In the centre, an older bare-chested man with a white beard and white turban, wearing a yellow dhoti and a white sacred thread, raises a red-and-white flower offering overhead. Beside him, a bare-chested priest in a yellow dhoti holds up a woven basket with flowers and green leaves. A younger boy in a yellow dhoti holds a small flower basket. On the left stands a man with long swept-back dark hair wearing an orange-saffron robe, a rudraksha mala and a gold pendant, appearing as a person, with hands folded, beside a man in a white shirt and white dhoti. A white-bearded man in orange at the lower right watches. Several other people in white and yellow stand in the background.2008-10-09March 27 20132013-03-27A photograph of a ceremonial welcome at an outdoor temple-style setting. In the foreground a young man in an orange dhoti and shawl with rudraksha beads and white tilak stripes on his forehead holds a brass-and-gold decorated tray with a kalasha topped by green mango leaves. Beside him a smiling woman in a rust-red sari and rudraksha mala holds a blue bowl of red flower petals and a brass cup. A bare-chested man in white dhoti with a gold-bordered shawl faces away at right, and another man in white and gold stands beside a red-and-white barrier. Many men and women, mostly in white clothes, hold up brass kalasha pots and coconuts over their heads, while a few people in saffron-orange robes and gold necklaces stand at the right near a blue pipe and a green-and-orange carpeted platform. Hanging string lights, a palm frond and bright floodlights light the scene. Several framed banners with Tamil text are mounted on the wall behind. Appears to be a ritual procession or abhishekam-type offering.2009-01-12January 12 20092009-01-12A photograph of a group of devotees in white ritual clothing with orange shawls standing in a pavilion under a white tent. Several people in the front row hold silver and gold ritual vessels, including a gold-coloured pot and covered silver bowls. Behind them, others hold ceremonial items: a tall silver staff, a gold trident, a large shell-shaped gold object and a gold ornamental fan-like implement. Red and gold ribbon decorations hang along the top, and a patterned pillar stands to the upper right. Some of the women wear white saris with gold or teal borders, and the men wear white dhotis or kurtas. The scene appears to be a procession or temple ritual, with a lattice window and a doorway in the background. No a person candidate is clearly visible among the people.2007-01-01
