A square stone fire pit burns with tall orange flames rising from wood and ash inside. To the right stand brass kalasha-style vessels, a copper bowl on a stand, a small brass lamp and several small brass bowls holding offerings. No people are visible in the frame, only a sliver of white cloth at the far right edge. The paved ground is dark and the scene is lit by the fire.2015-02-01January 28 20152015-01-28Photo 11743842 +1 copiesA large fire blazes from a square brick-and-white-plastered homa pit at dusk. A priest in white clothing, with a bangle on the wrist, reaches in with a long-handled metal ladle held over a copper or brass bowl containing offerings. Behind the pit, several seated men in white dhotis and shirts play drums, and a woman in a gold-bordered sari stands at the right edge. Brass vessels, a red cloth and fruit lie on the ground near the fire. Scattered figures stand in the background. The scene shows a homa ritual in an outdoor courtyard.2011-12-31December 20 20132013-12-20 +1 copiesA square brick-lined fire pit with white-washed bricks holds a burning wood fire with bright orange flames rising from split logs. A long dark wooden ladle rests across the left edge of the pit. In the foreground, a brass bowl of dark liquid sits on the bricks, and a small brass cup with a handle, a bowl of white offerings and a small brass bell lie nearby on a cloth. Marigold garlands in yellow and orange line the pit's white stone rim. Behind the rim, a brass vessel and a small oil lamp sit near the edge, and a person in white clothing is partly visible at the top of the frame. The fire pit suggests a homa (fire ritual) with floral offerings. No identifiable person's face is shown, and the visible people are only partly in view.2013-12-21
