Top panel: a man in a white shirt and white dhoti carries the front of a palanquin or ratha bearing a framed portrait of a woman with a garland, under a decorated canopy with coloured fringe; behind them a long line of people in white and coloured saris and white shirts walks, and a man in a white shirt and grey trousers stands at the roadside. Bottom panel: women in white saris with gold borders and coloured saris carry brass kalasha pots on their heads along the road, with a young child in a yellow outfit walking among them, and a sign with red and white lettering on a building beside the road. Collage of two photographs; the top panel's portrait is a printed image, not a physical person.2010-10-07A large crowd of devotees gathers on a reddish-brown dirt slope beneath tall coconut palms at an outdoor ashram-style site. Many men wear white dhotis and white shirts, some with a tied waist sash in yellow, while women wear white, cream and colourful saris in yellow, pink, teal and purple. A few people wear blue and maroon shirts. Several participants hold white cords or ropes, forming a line along the dirt path, and most look upward toward something out of frame. Corrugated-roofed white structures stand in the background behind a low wall.2008-12-31January 21 20092009-01-21Photo 11687473 +3 copiesNovember 13 20062006-11-13 +1 copiesOutdoor photograph of a village street procession at a Tamil Nadu temple area. Behind them a printed banner shows a portrait of a man with white head covering and smiling expression, carried on a pole. Palm trees, a bright cloth canopy with pink and blue tassels, and a white-walled building with a small roof sculpture of a bull are visible.
