November 18 20102010-11-18November 18 20102010-11-18A night procession at a temple-style hall with a red-and-white steel structure overhead. A man in an orange-red silk robe with bare shoulders stands at center, holding a brass oil lamp with a lit flame and bowing with palms pressed together, facing a decorated palanquin or ratha. The palanquin is draped in red cloth, yellow and white marigold garlands, and panels with floral and bird motifs, with banana plant leaves on either side. On a table in front sit brass plates, a small rock, and garland-covered offerings. To the left, a man in orange robes holds a tall orange-and-gold ceremonial standard with a bird emblem, and a man in a grey-patterned shirt and white dhoti stands nearby. Other orange-robed devotees and onlookers in white are behind, with torches flaring in the background.2011-12-05December 24 20112011-12-24Photo 11684235November 10 20102010-11-10 +2 copiesDecember 15 20112011-12-15Night procession photo: a shaved-headed monk in saffron-orange robes holds a lit flame toward an ornate deity murti decorated with garlands in green, pink and red, set on a gold-coloured palanquin-style platform under a large umbrella-like canopy with coloured fringes. A man in white dhoti with a maroon-edged cloth assists by holding the canopy. Devotees in saffron and white stand in the foreground with palms joined in prayer. The scene is aarti during a procession.2010-11-19Photo 11683178November 23 20102010-11-23July 12 20142014-07-12December 05 20112011-12-05 +1 copies
