A bare-chested priest in white dhoti with red-bordered cloth and a marigold garland raises a lit multi-wick oil lamp in his right hand, flames rising, while holding a small vessel in his left. Behind him hang decorated cylindrical pillars in yellow, red and blue, orange pennants and a leaf garland strung across the top. Seated devotees fill the lower foreground and sit before garlanded deity murti statues on the right. A small banner with a painted family scene stands at left. No candidate for a person is clearly identifiable by appearance, so the priest is described by role only.2010-10-16 +1 copiesSeptember 14 20062006-09-14Night outdoor ritual photograph. A man in a rust-red turban, bare-shouldered rust-red garment and gold-coloured waist cloth holds up a silver aarti lamp with several flames in his right hand, while a small bowl or vessel is held in his left. Behind him a dark tree trunk and a small table draped in a teal-blue cloth hold silver pots, a kalasha and green-leaved offerings wrapped in yellow cloth. Faint figures in white sit or stand in the dim background near a lit lamp. The scene is lit mainly by the flames.2013-12-20A standing woman in an orange sannyasi-style robe holds a tall, multi-tiered brass aarti lamp with a large flame aloft in a dim hall with rock-textured walls. Seated devotees in white and orange shawls watch from the left, and brass vessels and a small tray sit on the floor in the foreground. A white-draped low seat is on the right beside a patterned mat.2005-12-19May 05 20122012-05-05Night ritual aarti at an open-sided hall with a corrugated roof and pennants. A standing priest in white dhoti and shawl with red-and-white border, bare-chested with a gold-toned beaded necklace, holds up a silver lamp with a flame in one hand. Seated devotees in white fill the foreground and background, some with hands folded. Leaf festoons and striped cloth hangings decorate the space. A figure in the lower right wears a white garment and glasses. The priest's build and dress match ordinary ritual attire, so the identity of the officiant is uncertain.2010-10-16 +1 copiesMay 05 20122012-05-05Outdoor ritual under a leafy thatched shelter where a man in a white turban, white dhoti and orange-and-white shawl holds a brass lamp with a tall open flame in his right hand, a microphone on a stand near his face. Behind him seated attendants in white and orange wear, a row of standing men in white and light shirts watch, and a fruit offering of bananas, mangoes and flowers lies on a tray in front, with palm trees beyond. This appears to be an aarti with lamp offering.2006-09-14A shaved-headed priest in a white dhoti and shawl with gold borders stands in profile at night, holding a silver bell in his right hand and a silver aarti lamp with several burning flames in his left. Smoke rises from the lamp against a dark background. A partially visible person in orange clothing appears at the lower left edge. The priest, with his bare upper body and gold bangles, appears to be performing an evening aarti ritual.2015-05-05
