October 03 20112011-10-03Outdoor night ritual at a dirt-floor courtyard beside a tall white-barked banana-style pole hung with yellow-green banana leaves. On the right, a shaved-headed man in an orange saffron dhoti and shawl with gold border, wearing a gold bead mala and bangles, rings a brass bell in one hand and holds a silver tray with small vessels in the other, offering water or ritual items at the pole. On the left, a shaved-headed man in white dhoti with gold border and gold beaded necklace holds an open book and a green leaf, reciting. Lit red string lights decorate a wall behind, and a leaf with offerings lies on the ground. The pole and leaves suggest a traditional pooja or ritual rite; a visible name sign appears on the wall.2011-10-03A photograph of an outdoor puja beneath banana plants lashed to wooden poles. A man in a saffron-orange robe and matching shawl, wearing a gold beaded necklace and rudraksha-style beads, holds an oil lamp in one hand and a small bell in the other, with a brass tray nearby. Beside him a young attendant in white dhoti and yellow shawl holds a tray of offerings. A seated devotee in white clothing tends a flame and a plate of sweets or offerings sits on the mat. Woven mats with red and blue borders cover the ground. Behind, a painted deity image and floral decorations are visible. The scene reads as a homa or chandi-homa ritual, with the central figure appearing as a probable Swamiji candidate due to saffron robes, gold necklace and beads.2009-09-26Night outdoor ritual photo. A second person in a light blue garment holds a silver tray with a cup and food at the lower right edge. The setting appears to be a temple-style courtyard at night.2011-10-03A photograph of four shaved-headed men in saffron-orange robes at night, performing a ritual. The priest on the left wears an orange dhoti and shawl with a gold mala and arm bands, seated with hands folded. Nearby stand a brass kalasha-style vessel, bowls of yellow flowers, banana leaves with offerings, and a tall brass oil lamp on the right.
