A nighttime homa at a fire pit lined with yellow marigold flowers. Flames rise from the brick-walled pit in the centre. Four priests sit on the floor around it bare-chested, wearing white dhotis, with a white cloth over the shoulder. The priest in the middle has a grey-and-white turban and a beaded necklace, and his hands are over the fire. The priest at right holds an open book and wears a blue beaded mala. Brass vessels, a kalasha with flower garlands and a lit oil lamp sit at the right edge. Purple lighting and a dark background complete the scene.2013-07-09March 05 20162016-03-05 +1 copiesJuly 06 20152015-07-06May 29 20182018-05-29 +1 copiesSeptember 29 20162016-09-29March 05 20162016-03-05 +1 copiesAugust 31 20152015-08-31December 21 20132013-12-21Photo 11701595Night outdoor fire ritual at a square homa pit lined with brick and sprinkled with flower petals. A shaven-headed priest in white dhoti and shawl with gold necklace stands at the pit, holding a ritual implement over the flames. Seated priests in white garments, some with gold neck ornaments, assist with brass vessels, a bowl of offerings and a brass lamp; a seated man in front of a fruit tray joins his palms in prayer. Tall green palm fronds rise from the pit, and string lights decorate a building behind the ceremony.2010-10-16 +1 copiesSeptember 26 20172017-09-26September 27 20172017-09-27 +1 copies
