A photograph of a large banyan tree with many thick aerial roots and hanging prop roots forming a dense tangle around a small shrine-like niche at its base. In the foreground, a person seen from behind with long dark hair tied up, wearing an orange-brown garment with yellow borders and orange armbands, stands facing the tree on reddish earth. A black cable runs across the ground near a low stone wall. The scene appears to be an outdoor sacred grove setting.2012-04-23April 23 20132013-04-23December 03 20092009-12-03A large banyan tree with many spreading limbs and aerial prop roots fills the frame, its dense green canopy visible against pale sky. A marigold garland of yellow and purple flowers hangs across the trunk above a small dark shrine opening, with a small stone stand holding a plate of red offerings in front. A woman in a white sari with a coloured border stands at the base of the trunk with hands folded in prayer. On the right, a black stone statue of a seated figure wearing an orange robe and a red-and-orange headpiece, draped with a yellow-orange garland, sits on a red-orange rocky pedestal. Concrete rings surround the tree bases and a small blue sign is visible near the trunk.2010-08-08A large banyan tree with many thick aerial roots and hanging prop roots forms the centre of the scene, rising above a circular stone platform with a low white curb and steps. A single person in saffron-orange robes stands at the right edge of the platform, appearing to walk, with short dark hair and bare feet. Dry reddish earth surrounds the base of the tree and a small dark opening is visible at the foot of the trunk. Other trees and open ground fill the background under bright daylight.2009-08-17A photograph of a large ancient banyan tree with dense hanging aerial roots and thick trunks forming a shrine-like hollow at its base, with a small raised stone platform and a dark recessed niche beneath. In the left foreground a woman with long dark wavy hair wears a flowing saffron-orange garment and presses her body against the tree trunk with her arms wrapped around it, while a man in white clothing stands in the background at the left edge. Dry leaves cover the sandy ground.2011-02-20A photograph of a large banyan tree with many aerial roots and trunks, at the base of which stands a dark cave-like opening. A single person in a saffron-orange wrap and an orange-red blouse stands barefoot on sandy ground beside the tree, head bowed, facing the trunk. Two garlands of yellow and purple flowers hang on the trunk on either side of the opening. Shallow still water in the foreground reflects the tree and the figure. Sunlight filters through the canopy onto the sand.2008-01-14December 31 20092009-12-31
