April 07 20082008-04-07Photograph of a temple abhishekam at a black stone shivalinga on a yoni-shaped peetha. A priest in an orange-saffron dhoti and shawl with a rudraksha mala pours water from a brass kalasha over the linga, water streaming down the stone. Behind him a second man in white stands near the linga. On the right, a large deity murti is draped in a gold-bordered red silk garment and garlanded with white and red flowers. A small brass or stone object sits on a low stand at left beside wet ground, and a wall with a printed sign is visible at left.2008-03-23Two men in saffron-orange dhoti and shawl stand at a black stone Shiva lingam on a lotus-shaped black stone yoni pedestal, pouring water from silver vessels during abhishekam. One wears a rudraksha-style beaded necklace, the other a cord necklace. A brass oil lamp with a tall stand, flower garlands in orange and yellow, and green and pink cloth drapes sit beside the lingam. A corrugated roof and a water tank appear behind, with a small silver pyramid-shaped object in the foreground. Water runs down the pedestal.2008-12-31December 16 20092009-12-16A man with long, swept-back dark hair and a red tilak on his forehead pours water from a brass kalasha over a black stone shivalinga on a stepped peetha inside a temple. He wears an orange-saffron robe and a long necklace of rudraksha beads and gold ornaments, which marks him as a probable Swamiji (appearance cues: long hair, ornate gold and rudraksha adornment, saffron clothing). Water splashes over the linga, which is the abhishekam ritual. Behind him, other saffron-clad people stand near the linga, and a figure in a red sari sits at the right. Flower garlands in red, yellow and purple hang above, and a red-and-gold silk cloth drapes the deity area. At left, a man in orange bends forward beside a white marble statue and a brass lamp. Grey temple pillars with carved detail frame the scene.2010-02-12A smiling man in saffron-orange robes with a matching head covering and a gold ceremonial necklace pours white milk from a silver bowl over a tall white Shivalinga on a dark stone yoni-pitha base during an abhishekam. White sacred ash marks are on his forehead and upper arms. Milk splashes and streams down the stone. Another saffron-robed devotee stands behind him, and a bearded man in orange is partly visible at the left edge.2009-12-16A temple interior in backlit shadow shows a standing priest in an orange-saffron robe with a rudraksha mala, holding a small brass vessel and pouring water over a dark stone lingam set on a large black stone yoni-pitha basin. Water runs down the basin. To the left, another robed figure in orange stands with hands folded in prayer. A bearded man in orange sits behind the basin beside brass pots. Green and pink cloths and marigold garlands hang on the right, and a brass bell-shaped object and flower offerings sit on a low wooden stool. Outside, a white-roofed building and a smoking brazier are visible through the arch.2008-12-31A photograph of a shaven-headed man in an orange-saffron dhoti and shawl with maroon borders and a gold necklace pours water from a white vessel over a large black stone shivalinga on a black lotus-shaped peetha. He wears thin-rimmed glasses and a red thread on his wrist. Behind him stands a gold-painted statue with folded hands, a tiger-skin-patterned garment, an orange turban and rudraksha beads, and a decorated backdrop of white, red, green and yellow flower garlands. The bottom-right of the frame shows a partly visible gold figure with an ornate hand. Abhishekam is performed at the shivalinga.December 16 20092009-12-16December 31 20082008-12-31A photograph of a temple abhishekam at night. A man in saffron-orange robes with a long golden bead necklace and white sacred markings on his forehead and arm leans over a dark stone shivalinga, pouring water over it. Water runs down the lingam into a dark stone basin in the foreground. Another person in orange robes bends beside him, and a figure in white stands at the left edge holding a tray with offerings. Flower garlands with orange and magenta blooms hang at the right edge, and ornately carved stone arches frame the scene.2009-12-16Photograph of a temple ritual at a Shiva lingam on a black stone pedestal. A man with long dark hair, white sacred markings on his arms and orange saffron robes stands at the center, smiling and pouring or touching the lingam; his appearance with long hair, saffron clothing and ornate gold necklace matches the presentation cues associated with Swamiji (probable). Behind him a woman in orange robes with a red bindi holds a small bowl. To the right, a large ornate deity murti with a golden crown, garlands in red, white and yellow and an elaborately decorated pillar stand beside them. A brass oil lamp with a swan-shaped top sits in the foreground, and a carved wooden chair with a plate pattern is at left.2007-11-09
