July 16 20062006-07-16July 16 20062006-07-16Photograph inside a large open-sided pandal with bamboo rafters, hanging banana-leaf and palm decorations and fluorescent tube lights. In the foreground, rows of brass kalashas with gold rims sit in white wire-mesh baskets, topped with green leaves and coconuts marked with red kumkum, prepared for a homa or yagna offering. A bald man in white clothes with an orange shawl stands at the table with his hands near the offerings. Behind him, devotees in white and orange shawls, including women in saffron wraps and one wearing a sari, stand watching. A seated woman in an orange shawl sits at left. The scene matches the Sapta Yagam ritual described on the page; the bald priest's identity is uncertain from appearance alone.2006-07-16A photograph of a covered outdoor ritual hall with a corrugated metal roof strung with white paper garlands. Four men stand on a raised platform performing aarti: the men in saffron-orange dhotis and shawls with rudraksha malas hold up lit oil lamps and bells, while two men in white dhotis with orange shawls stand at the ends, one raising a lamp. Seated in front of the platform, women in white saris hold brass oil lamps and brass vessels, and rows of brass lamps and bells sit on the floor. Garlands and a flower-decorated altar with an orange cloth appear at the right. Spectators stand in the background. The scene reads as a Jayanti-Brahmotsavam celebration aarti.2008-12-31Photograph of a covered hall with a corrugated metal roof hung with strings of pale leaves. Four men in saffron-orange dhotis and shawls, some with gold necklaces, raise lit brass aarti lamps overhead beside a counter. In front, several women in white saris sit on a mat lined with rows of brass oil lamps, with a brass bell and lamps placed around them. A man in white clothes stands at the right edge holding a brass bell. The ritual appears to be an aarti performed with brass lamps during a ceremony. Walls behind hold framed pictures and banners.2008-12-31Night-time photograph of a crowd of men and women in white dhotis and saris with orange shawls, standing and sitting around a construction site lit by a tube light. In the foreground a young man in white kneels with hands pressed together in prayer beside a white cloth-draped object and an orange cloth on a stone ledge. A small golden kalasha-shaped vessel stands on a golden base with orange cloth. A wooden pole rises between the people. Several devotees wear orange shawls and rudraksha-free white attire, and a man at right holds a camera.2006-12-11January 14 20182018-01-14January 12 20092009-01-12A photograph of a large ceremonial gathering in a tented hall where many sannyasis in saffron-orange dhotis and shawls, wearing rudraksha malas, sit cross-legged on colourful striped mats in rows. Leaf plates with food and small white cups are set before them, and a man in the foreground at centre gestures with a hand near a microphone. Behind them, a standing crowd in white clothing and a row of decorated umbrellas and a canopy frame the scene, with wall displays of photographs on the left. A seated figure at centre-right with a shaved head and orange garments appears to be the focus of the rows, with a drum visible at right. Several people are seated at the front holding plates and cups.2016-12-18December 23 20082008-12-23September 16 20132013-09-16September 09 20112011-09-09
