Interior shrine of a temple hall with a large painted blue wall behind a red-bodied multi-armed figure standing on a prone demon, with several small heads on its body, holding a sword and a skull-topped implement, wearing a tall gold crown and a garland of skulls. Iron railing encloses a platform below with a green placard and a pale slab. Flanking the figure are a painted deity with a crown seated on a mount, a standing four-armed deity with a trunk-like face on a small mount, and a seated ascetic figure on a pedestal at right. Pale tiled floor, pale ceiling and a framed tablet on the wall. No people visible.2007-12-12August 03 20092009-08-03February 02 20142014-02-02December 12 20072007-12-12A large painted wooden or clay guardian figure stands on a blue platform in an outdoor courtyard. The figure is bright red with gold ornaments, a tall gold-and-green crown, a red tilak on the forehead, and a curled moustache. It wears a gold collar, shoulder pieces with blue trim, green and gold lower garments, and a red sash. It grips a sword in one hand and a round shield in the other. Behind it, a smaller painted mask face with a lion-like grin is mounted on a stick, and a pale-clad person stands near a red-and-white stepped structure. No deity name is clearly legible; this is a painted guardian statue, not a live person.2014-02-02Night photograph of painted temple sculptures at a Tamil temple gopuram. A large red-faced guardian figure with a grey mustache, gold armlets and a flower garland sits holding a long wooden staff across its knees. To its left stand smaller painted figures in white, blue and orange-gold costumes, one with a tall black topknot. On the right a yellow-and-green figure raises a long staff and a hand. A dark night sky forms the background with a stone temple tower behind. No living people are visible.2017-02-07 +2 copiesFebruary 07 20172017-02-07 +2 copiesNovember 16 20152015-11-16 +1 copiesMay 29 20122012-05-29 +1 copiesFebruary 07 20172017-02-07 +2 copiesFebruary 15 20132013-02-15 +1 copiesTwo painted clay statues of the goddess Kali stand in a dim, yellow-plastered shrine niche. The main figure has blue skin, long black hair, a red tongue, a white and yellow flower garland, and gold armbands; she holds a raised curved blade in one hand and a severed yellow head in another. Scattered limbs and a painted body lie on the floor in front. The statues are not living people; a painted label on the wall reads Bhayama Kali. No living people are visible.2008-06-09
