Photograph of a homa fire ritual in an indoor hall during the Sanyas Dheeksha Mahotsav. A standing figure in a bright orange robe and matching orange turban, with long dark hair, holds a ceremonial rod and gestures toward a blazing fire pit at lower left, with a brass vessel beside it. Around him stand people in white ritual clothes, some holding garlands and a staff, and a seated woman in a white sari with a cream shawl and red-trimmed cloth sits near the flames. Rows of seated devotees in white, cream and blue fill the background, with one woman in blue with palms pressed together. A framed deity image hangs on the upper left wall beside a lattice window. Multiple people are visible.2004-07-022004 - First Sannyas Deeksha At AdiKailaasa2004-07-02Night photo of a fire ritual, a homa, at an outdoor ashram site. A seated figure in saffron-orange robes, an orange turban, and a rudraksha mala sits cross-legged behind a microphone on a stand, holding a ritual cord and hands in gesture. Men in white kurtas and dhotis sit or kneel around a brick fire pit with bright flames, with a brass oil lamp, a kalasha-style vessel and a bowl of offerings on the yellow brick ledge. A white-clad man leans in at right. Seated people and a framed picture are visible in the background.2004-07-02July 11 20122012-07-11Night outdoor ritual on a riverside ghat beside a brick-lined fire pit with bright flames, a silver trident standing upright at left, and brass vessels, a kalasha-style pot and red flower offerings in front. A figure in orange-saffron shawl with long dark hair and gold ornaments sits at left tending the fire. Several men in white dhotis and bare or red-banded heads, some with red or orange cloths and rudraksha, sit beside the fire and handle offerings. A large audience of many devotees in white and red clothes sits on the steps behind, with a cameraman and bright floodlights lit against the dark. Smoke drifts across the scene. Dress and fire suggest a homa-style ceremony, and the orange-clad figure cannot be confirmed as a person from appearance alone.2014-08-01A priest in saffron-orange robes stands beside a large fire pit, holding a long wooden stick and guiding a flame with a dark cloth, during a fire ritual. Garlands of yellow and orange flowers hang around the area and a framed portrait behind the fire shows a smiling figure in orange robes with a mala, adorned with garlands, placed above a green-draped altar with a deity murti. Brass oil lamps stand on the right and a microphone is at the left edge. The priest wears a saffron head wrap, a long rudraksha mala and orange garments, and his appearance is not clear enough to confirm a particular person.2007-09-30July 11 20122012-07-11January 06 20182018-01-06December 16 20102010-12-16July 22 20132013-07-22March 10 20132013-03-10A photograph of a homa fire ritual in an indoor hall with terracotta floor. In the centre, a man in orange robes holds a tray with a red-wrapped offering above a blazing fire pit. To the left, a bald man in orange robes with his back to the camera faces the fire. Fruit platters, a kalasha and white flower garlands lie on the floor. A gold and red throne stands behind. Around 20 seated devotees, mostly women in orange, white and pink saris, sit with hands folded in prayer. Partially visible crew stand at the back near lights and tripods.2012-07-12
