Many shaven-headed men in white dhotis and shawls sit on orange-red mats with brass lamps and vessels before them. Several wear rudraksha malas and white tripundra markings on their foreheads. In the lower right foreground, a man in saffron-orange robes with a rudraksha mala and folded palms sits with a book open before him, and a man in orange with a grey beard sits lower left, both appearing to take part in the ritual. Many men in plain white dhotis and shawls, some bare-chested with white vibhuti horizontal lines on their foreheads and arms, sit on mats before brass oil lamps and small brass vessels. Several wear rudraksha malas. In the right foreground, a man with short dark hair wears a saffron/orange cloth and a rudraksha mala, seated calmly with hands resting on his lap. Beside him, a shaved-headed young sannyasi in saffron robes sits with a white tilak. Overall muted, warm lighting with orange and white tones.2010-11-12A photograph of a seated puja or ritual gathering in an indoor hall. Rows of shaved-headed men in white dhoti-style cloth with red borders and rudraksha malas sit cross-legged on orange mats, many with white vibhuti or tilak marks on their foreheads and arms, hands pressed in anjali or holding ritual items. In the foreground, a man in saffron-orange robes and rudraksha mala sits with hands folded near brass lamps, plates and small offerings. Brass oil lamps, kalashas and bowls are arranged on the floor. Behind them, a woven tapestry and chairs are visible. The image is a photograph of people, not a graphic, and the saffron-clad figure is not clearly identifiable as a person.2010-10-10
