May 18 20122012-05-18A photograph of a shaved-headed priest seated cross-legged on a woven mat with eyes closed and palms pressed together in prayer. He wears white ritual dhoti and shawl with red borders, white tripundra marks on his forehead and arms, a red bindi, and a rudraksha mala with a small gold pendant. Behind him, other white-clad participants sit in meditation or prayer, one in a yellow shawl, with brass lamps, bowls and a kalasha-like vessel visible on the floor. Overall the scene suggests a group puja or meditation in a hall.2010-09-29Several men in white dhotis with gold borders sit cross-legged on a polished floor during a puja. In the foreground, a man with folded hands and rudraksha malas sits with eyes closed. Near the centre, a man with white tilak and rudraksha mala holds an object while chanting; brass plates, small cups, flowers and a lit oil lamp rest on a green cloth and orange mats. Behind them, more white-clad devotees and a few onlookers in white and red sit in a yellow-walled hall. No figure here is clearly identifiable as a person from appearance, so the role is described only as priests and devotees.2012-05-14 +1 copiesAugust 24 20142014-08-24October 11 20102010-10-11 +1 copiesFebruary 04 20132013-02-04A photograph of a shaved-headed man seated cross-legged on the floor performing a puja. Men in white dhotis with red-and-gold borders and bare upper bodies sit closest to the camera, one wearing a yellow-and-white shawl, another with a rudraksha mala. Beside them, figures in saffron-orange robes sit with their eyes closed. Brass lamps and metal plates with flowers, fruit and offerings sit on orange cloths along the polished floor, with lit oil lamps and candles. Other attendees in white and orange kneel further back, and a figure in a pink top is at the left edge. No one clearly matches an identifiable ceremonial presentation beyond these ritual cues.2011-08-01Two shaved-headed priests in white dhotis and white shawls with gold borders sit cross-legged on a mat during a puja. The priest on the left holds a small oil lamp to his lips and a brass bell in his lowered hand; the priest on the right, wearing a rudraksha mala, raises a brass lamp in one hand and a bell in the other. Both have white sacred ash horizontal markings on their foreheads, and red kumkum dots. Behind them, several boys in white and coloured shirts sit on the floor with small oil lamps and brass plates. Trays of flowers, fruit, betel and brass vessels are arranged on the mat.2011-11-15
