He wears red and blue beaded malas and a striped white and yellow dhoti. Behind him, a blurred crowd of seated devotees watches, with another small brass vessel and flame at the lower edge. The setting suggests an evening ritual with oil-lamp offerings.2016-12-05A dimly lit temple scene during an aarti: a shaved-headed priest in a dark garment holds a brass multi-flame oil lamp with several bright flames toward the viewer, his face partly hidden behind the lamp. A second figure in a white dhoti with a gold-bordered shawl stands at right, also holding a lamp. Garlands of yellow-green and red flowers hang on a decorated pillar or deity stand at left, with blurred background ornaments.2016-12-07February 19 20162016-02-19August 02 20172017-08-02December 15 20162016-12-15A shirtless male priest with a bare upper body leans forward over a brass oil lamp with a large flame, lighting it with a red-wrapped stick held in his right hand. He wears a purple and gold patterned turban with a tassel, a white dhoti, a green and maroon waist cloth, a sacred thread, a red and gold necklace and a gold bangle. Behind him, a gold deity arch and striped yellow, blue and red hangings frame a temple altar with golden decorations, consistent with lighting lamps during a deepam ritual.2016-12-12September 28 20172017-09-28October 26 20112011-10-26April 14 20182018-04-14A photograph taken in dim light shows a priest performing an aarti with a large brass oil lamp holding several tall flames in his right hand. He wears a red-orange turban, an orange-brown shawl draped over the shoulders, and a long gold-beaded necklace, and a small wireless headset microphone is attached near his ear. In his left hand he holds a small metal vessel. On a low table in front are small brass pots, green leaves and flower garlands, and a yellow-wrapped vessel. The figure is seen in profile with bare upper arms and a bare chest, and the image is dominated by the warm flames against a black background. Appearance cues such as turban, shawl and beaded necklace are present but not distinctive enough to confirm identity.2013-12-20
