November 29 20112011-11-29November 08 20132013-11-08Night photograph of a tall dark wooden pole ringed with brass bands, with an orange cloth bundle tied near its top. The bundle is wrapped with white flower garlands and a green leaf, and stalks of golden grain are tucked into it. Yellow ropes run from the bundle down the pole and up to the upper right. A dark blue night sky fills the background. No people are visible.2013-07-22Close-up photograph of a folded orange-red silk cloth with white edging and maroon trim, tied with a twisted orange cord, resting on a red and gold patterned fabric. Yellow chrysanthemums and a magenta flower sit at the left edge. Behind it, an ornate carved bronze or brass base with spiral scrollwork is visible. No people are present.2010-11-06Outdoor dusk scene beside tall coconut palms: a large copper kalasha-shaped dwajastambha pillar topped with a bundle of straw and green leaves, garlanded with yellow and magenta flower strands and decorated with a relief panel. A bare-chested man in saffron-orange dhoti and shawl stands on the platform, pulling a long white rope that runs up the flagpole for the flag hoisting. Behind him, a man in white dhoti with gold border and a few seated devotees in orange and white watch. Scattered petals lie on the floor, and a faint watermarked name appears in the corner. Presentation and identity are not confidently established, so the figure is described by role as a priest performing dwajarohana.2010-12-20November 11 20172017-11-11Night-time photo of a dhwajarohana flag-hoisting at an outdoor temple. A bald man in saffron-orange robes with a gold-bordered dhoti pulls a white rope that raises a flag mast topped with a small orange and white flag, while a woman in a lime-green sari with gold border and a gold necklace holds the upper rope beside him. A large ornate copper kalasha-style base wrapped in yellow and pink marigold garlands stands at left. Behind, a young man in white dhoti and white shawl with a tilak and garland watches. Photographers and spectators are visible at the bottom edge. Dark palm trees form the backdrop.2010-12-20A night-time dwajarohana, the flag-hoisting ceremony, beside an ornate bronze-coloured kalasha-style stand decorated with yellow and pink flower garlands. A man with a shaved head, white tilak and orange robe with gold border, wearing a beaded necklace, grips a white rope that hauls up a flag bundle decorated with leaves. Beside him a woman in a light green sari with gold jewellery holds a palm-leaf bundle aloft. Mostly obscured onlookers are visible at the bottom right, with one person in white holding a camera. The man's appearance is not sufficiently distinctive to establish a person identification.2010-12-20December 20 20102010-12-20December 20 20102010-12-20November 08 20132013-11-08December 12 20162016-12-12
