An orange umbrella is held over a figure in a sleeveless red top and orange cloth wrap, walking toward an older man in white shirt and white dhoti who extends his hand toward them. Several people stand along the left in white shirts, white dhotis and orange cloth, some with palms pressed together in namaskar; a woman in a blue-and-white sari stands among them. On the right, a large printed banner shows a portrait of a smiling woman in orange, a temple-like hilltop monument and a rows-of-people photo, with Tamil text and phone numbers. Below, several women in white saris with red and orange borders hold flower garlands and a brass plate with offerings. A woman in a saffron sari with a red bindi and rudraksha-style beads stands centre, and a man in white shirt and mala beads stands at right. Bystanders in plain shirts and colourful saris watch, including a small child in a striped shirt. Plantain leaves and decorations frame the scene.2014-07-04 +1 copiesPhotograph of a ceremony inside a thatched-roof pavilion decorated with marigold and flower garlands and a white cloth backdrop. A central figure in a saffron-orange shawl and white dhoti sits before a small fire pit with a burning flame, with brass vessels, a kalasha-style pot and fruit on a low table nearby. Several men in white shirts and dhotis sit around the fire and others stand at the back, one with hands folded in namaste. Seated devotees in white, teal and orange saris and shirts fill the foreground facing the fire, with children among them. The scene suggests a fire ritual during a community event.June 21 20142014-06-21Outdoor village gathering under a striped awning with orange streamers and a flagpole, during an event with a crowd of devotees.
