Bhagavan Surya is the creator of the universe and the source of all life. The Vedic scriptures refer to the Sun as a store house of inexhaustible power and radiance. The Vedas are full of verses describing the celestial body as the source and sustainer of all life on earth. The origin of the worship of the Sun in Vedic civilization is several centuries old.

History of Bhagavan Surya
The Brahma Purana describes “The lord Surya without beginning, lord of worlds, lord of universe possessing garlands of rays, stationed in the form of Sun, blazes brightly. Brahma, devoid of beginning and end, permanent lord devoid of decline, created oceans, continents and the fourteen worlds.

For the welfare of the world he stayed on the banks of the river Candrasarit after creating lords of subjects, Prajāpatis and other subjects.”

SIGNIFICANCE OF TODAY AS PER HINDU CALENDAR
Makara Sankaranthi is celebrated as the birth of Uttarayana. The Sūryasiddhānta text indicates Uttarayana as the six month’s period when the sun moves to the north of the equator. Sun's northward journey from winter solstice to summer solstice is Uttarayana.

In Mahabharata, Bhishma, who had the boon to choose his time of death, waited till the dawn of Makar Sankranti to leave his body to attain liberation..

In Hinduism, a sacred meal (naivedyam) is a personal offering of every individual with their chosen deity (Ishta Devata). Annadhan-ANNADAAN (FOOD DONATION ), AWARDS / RECOGNITIONS

GARBHALAYA (SHRINE ACTIVITIES)

1. SUPRABHATAM SEVA

We started the day with Suprabhatam Seva, first and foremost seva performed in the Temple to wake up the Deities.

2. EVENING GURU PUJA & SHIVA PUJA AND NAIVEDYAM OFFERING

We offered Guru Puja, which is an offering of gratitude to our beloved Bhagavan Supreme Pontiff of Hinduism JGM HDH Sri Nithyananda Paramashivam for happening in our lives. Shiva Puja was offered to experience oneness with Paramashiva. Naivedyam was offered to SWAMIJI and the Deities.

3. Makara Sankranti Pongal Celebrations : Ashtothara Namavali Puja to Sri Shiva Surya Bhagawan

Kailasa San Jose offered Ashtothara Namavali Puja to Sri Shiva Surya Bhagawan to seek His grace, blessings and showering for the best Life with all auspiciousness, on this very auspicious occasion of Makara Sankranti Pongal ONLINE earlier today by the grace and blessings of the Supreme Pontiff of Hinduism, Jagat Guru Mahasannidhanam, His Divine Holiness Bhagavan Sri Nithyananda Paramashivam. Today is the day Surya Bhagawan moved into ‘Uttarayana’ - Northerly direction which is considered to be a very auspicious time. Bhagavan Supreme Pontiff of Hinduism JGM HDH Sri Nithyananda Paramashivam shared this is an auspicious time for all New Life beginnings as this is after Pralaya (Bhishma awaits for 18 days to leave the body and reach Vaikunta after the Mahabharata war on this very day).

4. PALLIYARI PUJA

We ended the day with Palliyari Puja. After Palliyari Puja, Arati was offered to Kalabhairava Door and Jnanalaya. SPH JGM HDH Bhagavan Nithyananda Paramashivam blessed that Sri Kalabhairava will reside in the shrine door. We worship Kalabhairava's presence in the door.

ENRICHING ACTIVITIES

1. As a part of Charya Pada, Nithya Yoga and Nithya Puja were practiced during Brahma Muharta. Today was our day 696 of BrahmaMuharta Yoga and Puja.

2. ANNADAAN (FOOD DONATION ) TO FOOD BANK (LEAGUE OF VOLUNTEERS)

By the Grace and Blessings of The SPH Bhagawan Sri Nithyananda Paramashivam Annadaan (food donation) done by KAILASA San Jose to a local League of Volunteers food bank in Fremont.

Food is donated for 10,000 people. Rice and numerous healthy food items were donated

All the food donation items were offered to The SPH Bhagawan Sri Nithyananda Paramashivam and then the energized items were donated. League of Volunteers food bank serves children, seniors and people in need of Tri-City-Fremont, Newark and Union city .

3. Enriching via Social Media Platforms and enriching calls.

We continuously enrich the Northern California by creating posts across various social media platforms with the sacred truths revealed by SPH, darshan pictures of the deities, Yoga and Meditation Sessions pictures, Info about upcoming programs and by going live during Bhava Samadhi Darshans & Satsangs. Enriching calls are made daily to support people in Causing their Reality.
