14th September 2023 - The KAILASA Delegation proudly participated in the Agroecology Theme Day, a highly significant event held within the framework of the Science Summit during the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). This monumental gathering transpired at the Millennium Hilton New York One UN Plaza in New York City.

The central theme of this event revolved around "Prospects for achieving equitable food systems through agroecology." Notable experts delivered keynote presentations:
Fergus Sinclair, co-convenor of the Agroecology TPP and Chief Scientist at CIFOR-ICRAF.
Dr. Jemimah Njuki, Chief of Economic Empowerment, UN Women.

A distinguished panel discussion enriched the dialogue, featuring prominent figures:
H.E. Ambassador Gabriel Ferrero y de Loma-Osorio, Chair of the UN Committee on World Food Security (CFS), Spain.

Measuring what matters: Guiding principles for the holistic assessment of agri-food systems, presented by Mary Crossland, Livelihood Systems Associate Scientist at CIFOR-ICRAF.

The discussion was further enriched by insights from Lany Rabagay, Asian Farmers Association, who provided reactions to the presentations. The event was also graced by the distinguished presence of H.E. Ambassador Mr. Cheikh Niang, Permanent Representative of Senegal to the United Nations.

The conference room buzzed with activity as representatives, including ambassadors from France, Costa Rica, Kenya, and Senegal, engaged in profound discussions.
