Prayer. Welcome. Let us enter into today’s subject Enter the real heaven! 158th Patanjali Yoga Sutra, 3rd chapter 52nd verse Sthaani Upa Nimantraane Sangha Smaya Akaranam Punar Anishta Prasangaath Vivekananda: they yogi should not feel allured or flattered by the overtures of celestial beings for fear of evil again Prabhavananda: when tempted by invisible beings on high places should not be neither allured nor flattered.. Satchitananda: yogi should neither accept nor smile at the admiration of the …. Osho: there should be an avoidance of any attachment or pride to invitation of the super…because this would bring the possibility of the revival of evil. It is a very important truth. But needed to be learnt only when you are really mature in the spiritual practice. In the initial level these words are not going to make any diff in your life because it says even when the celestial beings come and praise you or try to give you extraordinary pleasures avoid it. any how this is not for your level right now. It is like a beggar is begging for food and you are telling him that if a rich man gives you billion dollars, avoid it! But ultimately when you really reach that point it is useful. This advice will really be useful when you reach that level. actually you are going to reach that level. by saying even when the celestial beings reach you, seduce you don’t be seduced. This means even with those if you have to avoid, it goes without saying to avoid the ordinary mundane praising. One of the subtle intoxication you get is when people praise you. Vivekananda says it is very easy to have name & fame but very difficult to digest it! this advice is when you start experiencing different planes. When you start experiencing different planes, understand celestial beings do appear and invite you, praise you. the problem is the moment you start connecting with them, slowly you get into the same mental set up of those celestial beings and finally land back to the ordinary plane. As long as you see something other than you as experience it is not ultimate! Only when the experience and experience disappear into experiencing it is ultimate. Till then anything you go through is only a path. You have not yet achieved the ultimate. Moving in different planes does not mean you reach the ultimate. Becoming the base of all those planes is the ultimate. In the hindu tradition there is a beautiful description of Bhoor, Bhuvastuvaha, tapaha..if you change your life to spirituality, suddenly the spiritual world will open in front of you. if you take up the job of a doctor, suddenly the world of medicine will open up for you. if you take up the job of a lawyer, suddenly the world of law will open up for you. what kind of personality you create, that kind of world will get created in front of you. these are different kind of worlds. Understand. That is the reason sometimes I am not able to relate with so many worlds because I reside in a space beyond planes. You will see sometime I will be expressing amazing memory means some sutra, stotra which I have not even read I will be expressing. Sometime you will see I will miss in such an unimaginable way – you may have lived with me for so many years and if you go out and come after 3 months, I will ask you what is your name ☺ these are the problems of living in different planes! Really sometimes when I come out in the morning. I get into the car and I see which direction I have to go to temple or the mission office? If you observe my life style there is a system the driver knows exactly where to go, which way to go around, where to take a turn, where to stop. They cannot take a turn in the other direction. Not only that, even the road, they cannot go this and that corner. They will have to take the exact route because many times I will have to manage that I somehow remember the place. And they have to exactly stop in the same place for me to know where I have come. If you observe, I will exactly go and stand in that place only and put my head in the temple. I will exactly walk in the same way put my head on the banyan tree. You will not find a difference between one day and the other except the dress I am wearing ☺ because only then I can manage that routine. Who knows which plane the inner space is whether it is kailasha, vaikunta, who knows? Living in the different planes. it is not even different planes, it is like living in all planes at a time is an extraordinary experience. Patanjali talks about this not only to warn you about this but to remind you that it is possible. Many times you will see extraordinary experiences and darshans, always ask only for enlightenment, don’t ask for anything else. Don’t miss. The moment you ask for anything else, they will give you that but you will miss the ultimate. Indra is waiting. He wants everyone to be below him. Only if you are intoxicated by desires you will be below Indra. If not Indra cannot do anything. When you are seduced by praise people give you that’s all. Next moment they will start ruling your life. A real yogi should not be deluded, fall into illusion by the praise or the blame neither by normal human beings nor by celestial beings. Being praised is one of the subtlest intoxication. You can avoid any intoxication not being praised. That is one of the dangerous difficult intoxication. Do not take any major decisions when you are being intoxicated while being praised. Don’t take any business decision when you are being praised because your sub-ordinates will praise you and raise you and then raise their own salary. When you want to say no but not able to say no then don’t take any decision. This will happen when you are in a space where you are intoxicated by praise. This is a powerful technique of negotiation in business management. Do not take any decision when you are being praised. If you are intoxicated by alcohol how any decision you make is not good for you, same way when you are being praised, any decision you make is really dangerous. When someone comes and praises you and abuses your enemy, be very clear he is going to do the same thing with you. do not be intoxicated by praise. Do not be intoxicated by illusion. Do not make any major decision when you are intoxicated by being praised by others. The real heaven is not in others control. But if you are intoxicated by being praised by others, be very clear that is not real heaven. If it is built by somebody else it cannot be heaven. Any joy that gets added to you from other’s words or somebody’s company is not ultimate. It is subtle but an ordinary pleasure which makes you dependent and brings slavery into your life. Anything that makes you dependent naturally leads to evil, ignorance and depression. That is why Patanjali warns you even if you are praised by celestial beings don’t get carried away, don’t allow that. First during samyamas extraordinary processes there will be darshan of celestial beings praising you, inviting you, trying to invite you. don’t allow that. even in ordinary life there may be praising from the higher level personalities than you. don’t be seduced by them, diverted by them. any praise is subtle but a powerful intoxication which will only enslave you and lead to more & more depression and suffering. I am not giving you these 3 as morality. I am giving you as a technique to live a complete life. Whether you are in business management, negotiation in life or negotiating relationship deals or negotiating any other deals related to power, position, money, anything. Don’t be seduced. Don’t take any decision when you are intoxicated by being praised. That is why when people praise me and ask me something, immediately my answer will be I will tell you later on. I will never allow any decision, commitment when people praise. Keep this as a torch to live your life in the outer world or inner world. even when your boss praises you don’t be seduced, don’t give in because he is doing it to keep you under his control. Live out of pure inspiration. Being praised is actually like removing the last particles of dust from the gold. The last impurity is very difficult to remove – this being praised is the last impurity. To make 22 carrot gold is easy. From 22 to 24 is very difficult. Understand this great truth and live your life! Blessings!
