Sri Arunachala Jnanadesikar Swami Temple and Mutt (Aadheenam or monastery) in Panchanadikulam, Vedaranyam and the Sri Po.Ka. Sadhukkal Mutt in Vedaranyam are two ancient mutts in the district of Nagapattinam in South India in the Kailaasa Paramparagatha Surya Vamsa Vedaranya Sarvajnapeetham (spiritual and religious kingdom).
These mutts (Aadheenam) come under the Sri Kashi Vishwanathar temple in Thanjavur owned by The Supreme Pontiff Of Hinduism. The Kingdom of Vedaranyam and Panchanadikulam Peetha is a Spiritual Kingdom.
The presiding deity of these mutts is Lord Paramaśiva. Paramaśiva’s direct representative and heir is the Pontiff of the mutts.
Panchanadikulam in Vedaranyam served as housing for devotees. It fed devotees who used to visit the temple of Vedaranyeshwar, the temple dedicated to Śiva, located in the town of Vedaranyam in Tamil Nadu, India.
The region was part of the Chola Kingdom. The Pontiffs educated, groomed and initiated the Chola Kings to rule as per the methods prescribed in the sacred scriptures. The kings were the regents who administered the people while the Pontiffs were the owners.

15.4.14 Pontiff Ordainment Deed On the second day of the Chitrai month, in the year of Jaya, April 15, 2014, I, Sri Atmananda Swamigal, disciple of Sri Chitbhavananda Swamigal, Pontiff of Sri Somanathasamy temple in Vanmeekapuram, Thiruvarur Madappuram, Thiruvaru Taluk, Thiruvarur district, Pontiff of Sri Arunachala Jnanadesika Swamigal Mutt, located in Panchanadhikuam lower Sethi, Vedaranyam Taluk, Nagapattinam district, the head, Pontiff and Treasurer of Sri Po Ka Sadhukal temple monastery complex located in Vedaranyam Kaspa North street, Vedaranyam Taluk, Nagapattinam district, Pontiff of both Sri Palsamy mutt and Sri Sankarasamu mutt located in Karuthattankudi north gate, Thanjavur town, Thanjavur district, Ordain Sri Nithyananda Swami, establisher of Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam, who belongs to Tiruvannamalai, who is proficient in Vedanta, known to me for a long time, and who is close to me, my disciple, who has my trust and confidence, an Avatara Purusha, Mahāmanḍaleśvar of Mahanirvani Akhada, worshipped as Divine Incarnation by millions, as the pontiff of Vedaranyam Po Ka Sadhukal mutt. On Jun 9, 2003, I was ordained legitimately as the pontiff of Vedaranyam Po Ka Sadhukal mutt by the Pontiff, Srilasri Subramanyananda Swamygal, disciple of Achalananda Swamygal, disciple of Mahadeva Swamygal of Kovilur mutt, located in Karaikkudi Taluk, Sivagangai district, at the Registrar office, Thiruvarur, and registered by Book 4 record number 139/2003, and as per the deed, have taken full and complete responsibility and serving as Pontiff and Treasurer. Since then I have been performing services, offering free food, performing puja, abishekam and aradhanai, naivedyam and sacred puja offerings to Lord Murugan on the Kartika star every month, as described in my Pontiff ordainment deed. Each year, during the month of Chitra, I have been performing grand Guru Puja offering to the founder of the mutt Srilasri Po Kandasamy Swamygal. On the day of Guru Puja, wandering monks from out of town are offered 5m clothing and two way travel expenses, from wherever they come. I am offering ceremonial obeisance to temple deities (Mandagapadi) annually to Mariamman temple in town, offering for Garuda seva service at Perumal temple in Thopputhurai during the annual Brahmotsavam festival, special offering with the Lord riding the Garuda Vahana with Abishekam, Alankaram, Aradhanai and Naivedyam. The aforementioned Garuda Vahana belongs to Po Ka Sadhukal mutt. Each year free food is offered to wandering monks and saints as they arrive for ceremonial dip in the ocean during the Thai month. Similarly free food is offered during new moon day in the month of Adi, and the new moon day in the month of Purattasi, and during the month of Masi, to those who come to the sea for ceremonial dip. For every Mahamaham, observed with a ceremonial dip, free food is being offered. In the month of Masi, on the star of Maga, Brahmotsava festival happens for Vedaranyeswara Swami. During this time, coconut, fruit and garland archana is offered twice to the deity in procession in the streets. We have rented the shops that belong to the mutt and have been performing free services from the rental income. The Viswanatha Swamy temple is located at the lower bank of the Vedaranyam tank on the path to Nagapattinam. Below that and to the side is the Kandiyur Samy coconut grove which belongs to the mutt. There lie resting places of ancestors and past Pontiffs. Guru Puja has to be offered to them two days before the Guru puja for Po Kandasamy Swamigal in the month of Chitra, and the food offerings made as Chitra Annam and distributed to devotees who assemble there. Mandagapadi, ceremonial offering on behalf of mutt is performed during Brahmotsav celebration at the Mariamman temple in Kizhayur, Kivalur taluk, Nagapattinam district. The Chennai high court has passed verdict in favor of the mutt in the land dispute case for lands in Kizhayur, Karapidagai. Some persons have encroached this land claiming they have Patta or Government grant. To evacuate them, I have sought and received injunction in the Nagapattinam district municipal court and district court. Action is to be taken to evacuate them as per the injunction. I have administered the mutt and the assets acquired through the mutt and performed services well. All the free services, Mandagapadi ceremonial offerings, Po Kandasamy Swamigal Guru Pujas, free food offerings, free offerings to monks, as done by me are to be continued by you as the Pontiff. Because I have several educational institutions, and ashrams, I am unable to focus and pay direct attention to the administration, and considering the growth of these mutts, as the puja and sacred rituals are to be conducted as has been done through the ages, and to fulfill the purpose the mutts were established, I am invoking my right as given by Book 4 record number 139/2003, at the Registrar office, Thiruvarur on Jun 9, 2003 when I was ordained, to ordain you as pontiff of Po Ka Sadhukal mutt, and am writing this deed. You are to ordain one of your disciples after your time through a will or deed. In case the ordainment doesn’t happen in time, a Pontiff has to be ordained by Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam. Through this you are to take responsibility as Pontiff and control all assets and responsibilities, which were voluntarily administered by me. For this mutt and temple, the pujas and sacred rituals, and service offerings done by me and my predecessors, are to be continued by you henceforth. No one else other than you has the right to intervene in administration or claim ownership of the assets, or temple which were owned, maintained and controlled by me. As of today I have transferred all of this to you as the Pontiff. At the Vedaranyeswarar temple Kumbabishekam, sacred ritual happens on the 30th day in the month of Ani. On behalf of our mutt, we performed sacred Kumbabishekam for a permanent yaga sala mandapam (hall for fire ritual). Every year, on this day I have been offering Rs 500 towards Sabaswara Abishekam ritual. This amount has to be offered continuously. There are no rights to sell any assets in these mutts. If needed some assets can be exchanged for development purposes. You are to pay all taxes and tariffs related to all assets of the mutts, You are to designate yourself as the current representative and procure, and pay relevant fees for administrative and maintenance services including but not limited to Panchayat tax, property tax, electricity, telephone connection. To recover the receivables associated with the mutt, and payables of advance payment received for shop rentals, are payable at the time of moving out of the shops. Through this ordainment deed I am designating Sri Nithyananda Swami as controller of all assets belonging to the mutts. I have given all the court papers, documents and deeds relating to the mutt, to you as the Pontiff. The mutt, all assets of the mutt, all farm land, all responsibilities, and administration are given to you as new Pontiff as of this date. As of today you are to take responsibility and conduct all operations and continue as Pontiff. There is no modification or cancellation of this deed. As per the rights given to me as Pontiff, you are to continue as Pontiff and conduct proceedings. [Signed] Pontiff Sri Po Ka Sadhukal mutt, Vedaranyam
