This powerful ceremony is exclusively dedicated to Lord Shiva in His fierce, transformative form as Rudra, who represents the dissolution of ignorance and the cleansing of negative karma. The ritual involves the systematic bathing (abhishekam) of the Shiva Linga or the image of Rudra with various auspicious substances, symbolizing purification and the invocation of cosmic energies necessary for spiritual breakthrough.
