With the blessings of THE SUPREME PONTIFF OF HINDUISM (SPH), BHAGAVAN SRI NITHYANANDA PARAMASHIVAM — the ultimate manifestation, Paramavatara of Paramashiva — KAILASA Salem celebrated the auspicious occasion of Makara Sankranti on January 12, 2025, through sacred observances including the Suryan Pongal festival and the powerful Shiva Suryapooja. These rituals honor Surya, the Sun God, and specifically Shiva Surya—the embodiment of the Right Eye of Paramashiva—symbolizing gratitude for life-giving energy and seeking spiritual illumination. This vital utsavam (festival) reinforces KAILASA's mission of reviving the ancient enlightened Sanatana Hindu civilization by preserving traditional Hindu rituals that connect devotees to the divine state, space, powers, being and superconsciousness of Paramashiva. The day centered on expressing devotion, acknowledging divine forces, and upholding ancient Hindu sciences related to the cyclical nature of time and creation.
Makara Sankranti: Suryan Pongal and Shiva Suryapooja
Makara Sankranti, observed at KAILASA Salem, is a highly significant Hindu festival dedicated to the Sun God, Surya. The celebration focuses on Suryan Pongal, an act of profound gratitude for the Sun's role in providing energy and sustenance to life on Earth. As part of the observance, devotees prepare the special dish known as Pongal, made from freshly harvested rice. This preparation, which highlights the connection between agriculture (horticulture) and divine providence, is ceremonially offered to Surya as a mark of deep respect and devotion.
Following the harvest celebration, the sacred Shiva Suryapooja was performed. This highly intricate worship ritual is dedicated to Shiva Surya, whom THE SPH reveals is the representation of the Right Eye of Paramashiva.
