Ganesha Chaturthi celebrations is to worship and celebrate Maha Ganapathi by connecting with Him, who is the Epitome of Cosmic Consciousness, Cosmic Intelligence, spontaneous perpetual completions, joy and celebration of life itself. Maha Ganapathi (also called as Ganesha) is the Lord of All Beginnings and Destroyer of Obstacles (Vigneshwara). Before beginning any important work/project in our Hindu tradition we first offer Puja to Ganesha. He is the most beloved and friendly god from Hindu tradition and the largest worshiped deity in India without using much of rituals. His Divine Holiness, Bhagavan Sri Nithyananda Paramashivam on Significance of Lord Ganesha's Form: Ganesha is a powerful representation of Cosmos, the yantra which is a form of visual expression and cosmic intelligence. His four hands represent:
- His upper left hand holds pasha, which represents non attachment to thoughts. If one allows attachment to thoughts, the thoughts become engrams/patterns which can manifest in every sphere of one's life.
- His right upper hand holds ankusha, a rope which represents unclutching. Even a huge wild elephant can be controlled by a small object like rope. Likewise, one's thoughts and mind can be controlled by a simple technique - unclutching.
- His right lower hand - his own broken tusk represents spontaneous decision making power and his courage to sacrifice for the cause.
- His left lower hand holds a sweet (desert) ball, representing the sweet life that one can experience when the above three qualities are there in one's inner space.
Imbibing the above 3 qualities of Ganesha - unclutching, keeping the attachment under your control and the spontaneous courage and sacrifice for the cause that you took up, will allow this extraordinary auspicious explosion happen in your inner space, to make your life in the outer world also sweet like Ganesha's modaka, the desert. May Ganesha bless us to achieve his inner space and celebrate life.
