Guru Bhakti is the first step towards achieving anything including enlightenment.

स्वस्थः परवशो वापि तुष्टो वा दुःखितोऽपि वा ।
सर्वावस्थासु सर्वत्र गतिः सद्गुरुसेवनम् ।।८५।।
svasthaḥ paravaśo vāpi tuṣṭo vā duḥkhito'pi vā ।
sarvāvasthāsu sarvatra gatiḥ sadgurusevanam ।।85।।

In all circumstances and everywhere, whether one is independent or dependent, wretched or miserable, the only means open to the devotee is to remain in the service of divine Guru.

Experiencing conscious sovereignty is the purpose of your existence

Paramashiva manifests as guru - incarnation, nija avatara, as linga - archa avatara and sangha - kailasa, for making every being experience conscious sovereignty. Experiencing conscious sovereignty is the purpose of your existence; making you experience conscious sovereignty is the purpose of my existence.

पवित्रं पावनं पुण्यं शुद्धं परममङ्गलम् ।
वेदवेदाङ्ग सारार्थं श्रीगुरो म संस्मरेत् ।।७५।।
pavitraṃ pāvanaṃ puṇyaṃ śuddhaṃ paramamaṅgalam ।
vedavedāṅga sārārthaṃ śrīguro ma saṃsmaret ।।75।।

Devotee should always recite the name of divine Guru which is auspicious, sacred, virtuous, pure and supremely benevolent for knowing the essence of Veda and Vedānga (75).

authentically aligning yourself to your Guru

Guru Bhakti is not your words, your own concept of Guru, it is authenticating yourself, authentically aligning yourself. Authenticating yourself, authentically aligning yourself to your Guru by aligning your inner image, outer image, others image, life image, with your Guru’s connection.

सर्वपापविनाशाय सर्वसौख्यविवृद्धये । < br> सर्वाभीष्टार्थसिद्ध्यर्थं संस्मरेच्छ्रीगुरुं सदा ।।७२।।
sarvapāpavināśāya sarvasaukhyavivṛddhaye ।
sarvābhīṣṭārthasiddhyarthaṃ saṃsmarecchrīguruṃ sadā ।।72।।

For the destruction of all kinds of sins, enhancement of all pleasures and prosperity, for achieving all desirable results, the devotee should ever remember the divine Guru (72).
