Bilateral Partnership Agreement Between KAILASA and The New Amsterdam Town Council

The United States of KAILASA is delighted to announce a new Bilateral Partnership Agreement with the New Amsterdam Town Council of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana (Guyana).

The New Amsterdam Town Council, Guyana and The United States of KAILASA the First Sovereign State for Hindus - emphasizing their similar values on cultural understanding, religious freedom, and other rights, eradication of hunger, youth leadership, holistic health and education initiatives.

New Amsterdam is one of Guyana's largest towns on the eastern end of the Coastal Plain. It is one of three situated in the East Berbice Corentyne area with a rich, colonial history evident in its architecture. Lying along the Berbice River and close to the Surinamese border, New Amsterdam is the capital of the East Berbice-Corentyne region.

New Amsterdam was established in 1791 by the Dutch and is fondly known as the ‘Ancient Town’. It occupies an area of approximately 13.7 Sq. Km with an estimated population of 35,000 residents. Although the town was expanded to include neighboring communities, it maintained much of its old architecture. The town has many old colonial buildings, some dating back to the time of Dutch colonization. We thank Honorable Mayor Winifred Rebecca Heywood and the Town Council, for this partnership. We look forward to a long lasting, strong and thriving mutually beneficial relationship for years to come.
