Power Of Sound – I & II

Today’s subject is the ‘Power of Sound’. All the spiritual masters, all enlightened beings, all spiritual traditions, all religions, all mystics understood, experienced the power of sound. That is why whether it is the vedas or the Bible or Koran or the Dhamma sutra, they all say first there was the sound. From sound everything else was created. So many scientific researches prove that the whole thing can be reduced just to vibrations, just to sound vibrations. Vedic seers, vedic masters declare that the whole universe is nothing but nada, or the sound. That is why they say Nada Brahmam. The whole cosmic existence is nothing but vibrations, the sound. Today we will explore a technique by Mahadeva, Anandeshwara to experience enlightenment through sound. Mahadeva gives this technique in the book that I am going to speak from now. This book which is ten thousand years old, is attributed to Siva or Mahadeva. Traditionally we believe that Siva gave these teachings to Devi. These have been recorded and are the Siva Sutras. Sometimes people ask me, how do we know that these have been given only by Siva? How do we know that they were delivered by Siva? I tell them that if you see the sutras , if you read the verses, anybody who has the knowledge, the depth about the mind and the being, must have been Siva. He must have experienced Siva consciousness. Understand that Siva or Buddha is not just a person. It is a state of the Being. Anybody who achieves that state, will be called Buddha. In our tradition, Siva, Buddha, Vyasa, all these words are state of the Being. The disciples of Shankara are called Shankaracharyas. That is why we use different words, Adi Shankara and present Shankaracharyas. Anybody who represents is called by the same name. It is more like a title. So anybody who has experienced, anybody who has got knowledge to this level, this depth is Shiva. No doubt about it. He has experienced the Truth. The way in which he expresses, with that we can very clearly understand whether he knows or he has just read. We can be sure that this book is not from a person who has read and acquired knowledge. This book is from a person who has experienced. Because he is giving solutions for all possible problems. He is giving solutions to the human beings who have lived on the planet earth, who are living on the planet earth and who are yet to come. He is giving keys to open all doors. Today we will explore his technique, his meditation technique to achieve enlightenment, higher consciousness, through sound. Almost all the enlightened traditions, all the enlightened masters and the traditions created by them have worked on the sound. Sound is one of the important method to awaken the higher consciousness in you. In the east, language is not used just to convey a particular

meaning, a logical concept. Language is used for transmitting vibrations also. That is why the word Sanskrit means refined, purified. Sanskrit is not only linguistic, it has got phonetic importance also. Sanskrit is not a language just to convey a logical concept, a few words, a few ideas which you think. It has got phonetic importance also. That is the reason no veda mantra can be altered. Sometimes you may feel that if you use some other word the meaning will be more sharp, more clear. But you cannot change the word. Even if you think that ‘I think this word will be able to express the truth in a better way’, ‘ I think this word can take us to a deeper level’, you cannot change the word. The veda, the Sanskrit verses are repeated the same way. The other day I was reading a research report on so many different scriptures. The research says, the least corrupted book on the planet earth is the vedic scriptures, the least corrupted! Just because of our devotion to that literature, with no printing media, with no other preservation system, except listening, listening and listening, except listening and repeating, there is no other preservation method, for the last ten thousand years, at least ten thousand years, the vedic truths have been preserved without corruption. Even if some masters write some commentary, they will say very clearly this is the mantra and this is my commentary. See, the people who write commentaries are so charismatic, so impressive, even if they alter a few words, nobody will oppose. But no master dares to do that. That is the greatness of our masters. They have done text-torturing; they have interpreted in their own way. But nobody had the courage to touch the original sutras, whether it was Shankara or Ramanuja or Madhva or Vachaspati Mishra or Atmananda. You can name thousands of masters. One more important thing. Each one of them is expressing their own ideology. That means what?! They have their own vested interest! Commentaries are given just to convince people that what I am saying is supported by these great masters. Understand, commentaries are nothing but justifying their own thinking trend, justifying the truth that they want to express. Shankara, Madhva, Ramanuja, each one of them had their own vested interest. Each wanted to convince people about their thinking trend, about their own way of expressing truth. Each one of them have expressed in their own way. Each one of them were expressing in their different, different way. And if you see little deeply, it will be funny. Sometimes the same sutra, how many different meanings can be given! So many different meanings can be derived, can be taken out from the same sutra, from the same verse. Sometimes it is not funny, it can be horrible! Really, I am telling you some of the insider’s secrets! These are all the secrets. You will be surprised. Some sutras are being commented in a totally different way by Madhva or Ramanuja or Shankara. One more thing, these great masters have done a great service to society. In the same way, they have created enough of problems also. Because the fight among these three people is the fight that is happening all over India till now. Till now! Because each one is interpreting in their own way. But even with all this commotion, amidst all these problems, nobody dare touch the original sutras. Understand, nobody ever had the courage to touch the original sutras. Whether it was Ramanuja or Shankara or Madhva, they give the original sutra and then they give their own meaning. They interpret words, they take out words, they add some

words, they give their own meaning, they present it their own way. Everything they do, but in their commentary, never in the original sutras. First, Shankara writes his Bashya, his commentary. That is why he is called the Bashyakara. Then Shankara’s disciple writes the Varthika. Sureshwara acharya is called the Varthikagara. That means a commentary on the commentary. Next comes the teeka. Teeka means commentary on commentary on commentary! By that time truth is lost! There is a beautiful Zen story: Tea was kept in a cup. Somebody drank the tea, washed the cup and poured that water into another cup. The second guy drank that water, washed the cup and poured the water into a third cup. And the third guy is drinking that water. What smell, what connection will be there between this water and the original tea? That is what will happen if you read the commentary of the commentary of the commentary. But the beauty is that not a single master had the courage to touch the original sutra. Because they all know that it has got phonetic importance also. It is not just linguistic. It is not created just to convey a logical meaning. It is beyond. See, if a language is created just to convey a concept, you can develop. You can change the words, you can use better expressions. In the course of time you can add some words, you can remove some words. But the vedic scripture were not created to convey a concept, to express an idea, to express a logical sentence. It is created to transmit vibrations also. Because our seers, our masters know the power of sound. They know the power of sound. It was never altered. And one more thing. It is very funny. Even the grammatical mistakes made by the rishis, the grammarians or the intellectuals were not allowed to change. When an enlightened being speaks, he may make some grammatical mistakes. Pundits are not allowed to change that. Naturally the disciples will be pundits. It is the trend from day one. High intellectuals will be disciples. A fellow who is innocent, who does not know the language, who is not a big orator, he will be the master. Because he expresses the truth as it is, in a simple way, very raw words. He does not even know the language, does not even know how things can be expressed. From time immemorial that is the way it was. Even the mistakes made by rishi cannot be corrected by pundits. It is called arsha prayoga. Rishis have been given full freedom. Seers have been given full freedom. They can make any mistakes. That becomes grammar. That becomes grammar. Because sometimes they are trying to express a sound. They are trying to transmit the vibration. More than the word, the vibration is the main thing. So Sanskrit is not only linguistic, it is phonetic also. Because our rishis know the power of sound. I can tell thousands of stories to prove the power of sound. Let me tell one or two incidents that happened in my life, which I experienced in my life. Because I am witness to these few things. Instead of telling so many stories from our tradition. Even the power to curse is nothing but the power to handle sound. One more thing. Still there are so many researches going on about the Brahmastra. They really suspect that this Brahmastra is nothing but a kind of a nuclear bomb which was used in

those days. It was a weapon used in those days by using the power of sound. Just by the power of sound they were able to create such a positive or negative energy. You see, the Brahmastra was used both for both purpose, for both creation and destruction. Even to make a person enlightened Brahmastra was used. If it is used for creation, for enlightening somebody, it is called Brahmopadesha. If it is used to destroy somebody it is called Brahmastra. The purpose for which it is used, according to that the name is given. But otherwise, it is the same energy. Just like nuclear power. It can be used to kill or to help. Both the ways it can be used. In those days, must be thousands of years ago, our masters knew the technique to use the sound, to use the vibrations. And they were able to play with the vibrations. Now let me tell you an incident, a story from my life. It is not a story, it is history. It actually happened. I had the great fortune of sitting at the feet of a great yogi called Raghupathi Yogi. He lived in Arunachala, my native place. He was born and brought up in Tibet, Burma also, in both these countries. I think in those Burma was not independent. It was part of India under the British. He lived with the Lamas also. When I saw him in Arunachala, he was looking very simple, a humble normal man. Nobody knows much about him except the few people who lived around him, a very silent type of a person. Let me narrate a few incidents which describes the power of sound. One day we were all sitting and chatting. One bird picked a fish from a temple tank. We were all sitting on the bank of a temple tank. Arunachala temple has a beautiful, huge water tank.. Actually, in India, temples are not just the worship place. They are the place to store grains, water for famine periods. And they are the place for storing the culture, art, dance. That is the library. That is practically the university, the spiritual universities. So there is a huge temple tank. One bird just picked up a fish. The fish was dying and it was trying to save itself. The bird had caught the fish nicely. We saw it. And one of the disciples commented, ‘Master in your presence can this happen? One life is dying. Why don’t you save it?’ Of course, I don’t know how to justify what he did. I can only show you the power of sound. I don’t know what he did or why he did it. He just looked into the eyes of the bird and made one small sound through the tongue as if a stone is thrown at the bird. If you throw a stone towards the bird what sound will come? The same way he made a sound through his tongue. I saw very clearly, the bird just fell and died. Looks like a story. Sorry if I am not able to connect with your logic. Please excuse me if I am not able to satisfy your logic. But I saw it with my own eyes. You all have the right not to believe. But I don’t have the right because I saw it. You have all the right. Not once or twice, at least twenty, thirty times I have seen him playing with sound and creating that effect in the outer world. I was shocked! Just one sound as if a stone had been thrown, aimed at the bird and thrown. The bird just dropped the fish and fell. It died as if a stone had hit it. I was shocked. It was too much!

In the same way, once I brought coconuts from the temple. Usually they bring coconuts to the temple for worship and break it. The only work for the young boys is to run and go and collect these coconuts. I used to run for the coconuts they used to break in front of the temple. So I brought the coconut for him to eat. He was a poor eater. He used to eat once in maybe three or four days. So I collected some coconut and brought it. He wanted to break it into smaller pieces, so I tried to find some stones to break it. But all the stones were too big. He just took the coconut in his hand and made a sound as if it was hit by a hammer. Just a hammer sound! Please understand, he took the coconut in his hand, looked at it and made a sound with his tongue, ‘TUK!’ And the sound was so strong, the vibration was so strong that the coconut broke into pieces! Just pieces! Again, I am sorry! It is too much, I know! (Laughs) It is too much for a person born and brought or who is living in the west. You see, in the east I can say all these words and the people will simply connect because every village they will have somebody. Every village will have some healer. A healer means for any small disease people will go to him. He will sprinkle some sacred water or chant some mantras and the kid will become alright. I must tell you one more important truth. My age is thirty. Twenty nine completed, thirty running. I have gone to the hospital only once, when I was born. That is all! Only once! No allopathy medicine, no vaccinations, no other injections, nothing. Only when I took birth. Of course, my mother went, I did not go! Once I came out of the hospital, over! It is not just me. I can say at least lakhs of people are there in India who live like this. If they fall sick they go to some local healers, some pujaris , some temple, some priest. Still the tradition is there. I don’t know how to justify or how to logically present. All those things I don’t know. I can only tell you the facts. Now it is up to you to analyze or connect or justify. You may say it is because of faith. So many big, big words you can find, scientific words or research words. I don’t know all those words. Still there are millions of people in villages who go to healers or priests or whatever name you want to call. I think we don’t have the right word in English language because the concept does not exist. So we don’t have the right word. That guy will chant some mantra and sprinkle a little water and the child will become alright. A little difficult to believe unless you see it. Unless you see it is difficult to believe. In Sri Lanka, during the annual festival on Buddha Poornima, Buddha’s enlightenment day, thousands of people will walk on fire. Same way in our ashram every year at least three or four times we do the fire walk. Hundreds of people will do the fire walk. I will be the first person to walk! Sometimes people ask me, how is it possible, how you guys are able to do it? Just all we know is that there will be music, a special type of music, a vibration that will be created. Everybody knows that they can do and they will do, that is all. No other logic. If you think, will I be able to do it, gone. Nothing can be done. I tell them don’t walk. No, you are not allowed. Whoever asks, Swamiji can I do, no you cannot do. Forget about it. Whoever knows, I can, then yes, you can. Somehow you know it, that is all. It just clicks.

They are made to meditate for ten days before the fire walk. In those ten days their body and mind is prepared with chanting, meditation, vibration. They create peaceful thoughts. Let me be peaceful, let my body and mind be completely integrated, let the whole world be at peace. Your thoughts have a powerful impact on the outer world. When you create so much of peace, when you create so much of connectedness with nature, nature does not disturb you. The person who has created enough energy to connect with nature, will not have doubt when he sees the fire. I will be standing there just to filter. If I see little fear in their eyes, I tell them, no, you cannot. If somebody walks with doubt, he gets hurt. If the person does not have any doubt, he is very clear. I know I can do. He never gets hurt. He will not get hurt. It is simply feeling connected. Just something clicks and you are there. Nothing happens! How to logically describe? No way. Something happens, that is all we can say. There is no logic. Some scientists from Wisconsin University went to Sri Lanka just to do research on fire walk. How this is possible? It is not just five feet or six feet. Understand it is sixty feet. Five feet, you can just jump. Two steps and you can just jump. It is not five feet or ten feet. Sixty feet! At least ten steps, no at least twenty steps you have to put. We can jump three feet. Of course, in fear you can jump four feet. (Laughs!) Not more than that. So at least twenty steps you may have to put, and on live charcoal, fire! Strange thing! People are able to manage. Nobody gets burnt. Even clothes which they wear, nothing happens. It is very surprising. Anyhow, the scientists were not able to give any logical reason why it is happening. The scientists tried and they got hurt, they got burnt. The scientists also tried but they got hurt. They were not able to give a clear idea why the Buddhist monks were able to walk and why the ordinary people were not able to do. They did all possible researches, the blood check-up or whatever they could do. Beyond the body, there is something. Beyond the body there is something in that space. And that is what we call the power of sound, the power of vibration. There is a particular type of music and the people can walk on the fire only when the music is created, when the vibration is created. This means, your body and mind can be elevated, can be transported to a different plane of consciousness, a different level of existence by the power of sound. Understand, the same person cannot walk without that sound, without that vibration, without that mantras, without that chanting. But with that chanting he is able to walk. He is able to successfully do that ritual. So, the power of sound, the power of vibration can transport you, can lift your body and mind to a different level of consciousness, to a different plane of existence. A few more incidences I can tell with Raghupathi Yogi, the great yogi. If he creates the sound like a dog, just two, three small sounds and twenty thirty dogs from all over the area will come to him. Whenever people brought food for him, he will eat a little bit and throw the rest to the street dogs and all the other animals that live around there. Just by creating a small sound. Usually when you call the dogs will not come, they will be afraid to come. Usually you can drive the dogs out but you cannot call them. Driving them away is possible, you can shout or throw stones and they will run away, but you cannot call. But I have seen, just by creating a small sound all the dogs will come.

Not only that. Sometimes I have seen, he will create a small sound, snakes will come. Just a small sound, a few small, small sounds. It is not even a sound, more like a vibration. Through the corner of the mouth he will create a vibration and snakes will come, as if they have been tied by a rope and being pulled. Just like that, they will come. Usually snakes will go like an ‘S’, this way and this way (gestures) they will move. But when he creates vibrations, I have seen that snakes will come straight, as if a rope or thread has been tied and it is pulled, straight. And not only snakes. In the same way, fruits from the trees. I have seen with my own eyes, if we are sitting under a mango tree. Especially with mango tree and coconut trees I have seen with my own eyes. If we ask, Master get us some mangos, all he need do is make a sound like a stone and simply the mango will fall. He will just make a sound with his mouth as if a stone is being thrown (tuk!) and simply the mango will fall. Not only mango, even coconut. And breaking the coconut also he knows. Just take it in his hand and create a sound. Looks very strange! Actually I asked him once how this is possible Master? How can you do this? Can you break a stone? I asked him, you know how to break the coconut, but can you break the stone? I asked him because I thought maybe with his hand he is pressing the coconut. Because he was a very powerful, a very strong person. I have seen him doing this in public. He will tie an iron rope on his chest, inhale and exhale strongly and the rope will break, the iron rope! If I tell more and more it will look like stories. He was a very strong person. I thought he might be breaking the coconut with his hand. The coconut he can break, but what about the stone? So I brought a stone and kept it in front of him. He just sat and looked at the stone, just connected with the stone and created a sound (tuk!) and the stone became two! But the sound that he creates, if you put your hand in between, your hand will get hurt. Once I tried. When he was connecting with an object like this to break it, I put my hand in between and literally felt like something was hitting my hand. As if the bone will break. It was so powerful, just the vibration. Then I understood how the rishis cursed people. You have lot of stories. Like Vishwamitra cursing somebody, Durvasa cursing somebody, Vashishta cursing somebody. These vedic rishis cursing somebody. I was not able to relate. How can somebody say a word and it becomes a reality. When I saw this I was able to relate. I understood, O God! It could be the truth. Just a word can kill somebody. Just a sound! The vedic masters could turn the whole life because they knew the power of sound. They know how to use it. They know how to use sound particles. Gita says Yogo ishta parantapaha. The truth or the inner science is lost in the course of time. Because we have lost the keys, we cannot say that the treasure never existed. Understand, just because we have lost the keys today, we cannot say the treasures never existed. Just because we did not experience these things, just because we did not get the right key, we have not tried in the right way, we have not experimented or experienced, we cannot say the treasures never existed. It existed. The truths existed. It was there. Only when I saw him do all these things I understood the possibility of cursing. Just creating some sound and creating the effect. Even in the wars that are described in our scriptures, in

our Mahabharata and Ramayana, they say, with the arrow when they concentrate on a person, they will create a particular vibration, mantra. With every astra there is a mantra. Varuna astra, Nagastra or Brahmastra, for every weapon there is a mantra. They will create that vibration. That vibration will do the effect. The vibration will carry the arrow powerfully and create the effect. Mastering the science of vibration is only taught in the gurukulas, when the kids are learning under the enlightened masters. You see, to learn archery you do not need to go to an enlightened being. To become the master of killing others you don’t have to go to an enlightened being. But in those days, even archery or fighting with a sword, all the martial arts were taught by an enlightened being. Why? Because it is not just physical, something more than physical was involved. That is why they went to Dronacharya, they went to Kripacharya, who were enlightened beings, who were able to handle the power of vibrations, who knows the method, the technique to handle the power of vibrations, who can teach students to handle the power properly and to use that science of sound. Understand, twenty years ago if somebody told you that if you type a few words on the computer, you can get to know about anything you want in the world, nobody would have believed. But today, you can do it. Just type and search on the net for anything, you name it and you have it. Anything! Twenty years ago nobody would have imagined that this was possible. But today it is possible. Understand, just because we are not seeing a few things never think that it never existed. Just like computer pass words. Computer passwords are like olden day mantras. Those days mantras were just like modern day passwords. Now if you just type anything and search on the internet, you will get the whole information. You will be able to do so much. In the same way, in those days our masters had passwords, passwords for particular vibrations to handle particular thought, particular sound. Those passwords are only called mantras. Why we lost it? Why Durvasa is able to curse somebody? Why Vishwamitra is able to curse somebody? Why Vashishta is able to bless somebody? Why we are not able to? One more thing, we cannot say Durvasa was pure because he was filled with irritation and anger. We cannot say Vishwamitra was great because he was filled with fantasies and lust. Understand, when we hear the story about when Vishwamitra was meditating intensely, Menaka, Ramba and all the celestial girls, all the dancers from heaven came and disturbed him. Don’t think that there is somebody sitting in heaven who will send down girls to come and disturb you if you sit in meditation. If somebody is sitting there and sending down girls if you are meditating, then everybody will start meditating! Meditation will become so popular. It is not that someone is sending from there. It is his own suppressions. When you suppress too much, anything suppressed will become reality in your dreams. When your logic is imbalanced, that will become reality. If you are suppressing something strongly, if your logic is imbalanced. Your logic can become imbalanced if you don’t eat well, if you are tired. It is not that only when you don’t sleep well your logic will be imbalanced. Even when you are very tired, sometimes when you have driven for a long time and are resting, you will find that you are not sleeping but just resting. You will be day

dreaming. In front of you so many things will be happening. You know, you will be aware but you cannot come out of those visions. So if you have suppressed something too much, naturally it will come out. So same way, Vishwamitra was sitting on a volcano, sitting on lust, sitting on fantasies suppressing it. One more thing, when you have suppressed something, when it comes out it will be too tasty. That is why if you fast for three days, you will be feasting in the dream. Just three days fast and you will be feasting in the dreams. And it will be too tasty. That is the basic nature of the mind. So suppression comes out. It is only the suppression that came out. It is not that Vishwamitra was great. Vishwamitra was just like us. I think worse than us, because the way in which he describes Ramba, Menaka and Urvashi, he must have had enough of suppressions, he must have had too much of fantasies. That is why he is describing them as if they are heavenly. One more thing, when you suppress and they come out, they will come out wildly. In the same way, when you relax from the desires, when you are done with it, you will fall to a worst space. You will fall to such a low mood, such a low energy. That is what the story says. After the child is born, Vishwamitra says, I don’t want to see you. Guilt. The desire and then the guilt. The peak of desire and the valley of guilt are both connected. The peak was too much, the same way is valley was also too much. So Vishwamitra was just like us, Durvasa was just like us. But how they are able to use the power of sound, the power of vibration and why we are not able to use? Understand, this is an important question. If you know the answer to this question, you can work on the Shiva Sutra. Now Shiva is giving the technique, solution, just for this question. He is answering this single question. Why Durvasa and Vishwamitra who are filled with the same lust and anger are able to use the power of vibration, why we are not able to use? Understand, the answer is the cerebral layer. Let me explain that word. If Vishwamitra is filled with lust, he is filled with lust. If Durvasa is filled with anger, he is filled with anger. It is not borrowed from others, it is his own. Please understand, let me explain how we are corrupted even in our lust, how we are corrupted even in our anger. Even in our anger we are not pure, we are not authentic. Even in our lust we are not pure, we are not authentic. If Durvasa is angry, he will not sit and calculate whether the guy in front of me is the boss or subordinate. You will calculate. Understand that when you are angry, one part of you is still able to manage the calculation. He is my boss, too much is at risk. Please relax. But Durvasa is not calculating. He does not know how to calculate. He is just swearing. Authentic anger! I am not telling you to shout at everybody, be violent with everybody. No! I am saying, integrate your anger, be authentic. Suddenly you will see, anger leaves you, lust leaves you. Somebody came to me and asked, Swamiji, I am addicted to smoking. I don’t know what to do. A few days ago I read a book and then dropped. I asked did you drop smoking? He said, no, no, I dropped reading books like that, which are confusing. Please do something. I told him, first tell me, how did you start? He told me, when I was fifteen or sixteen, I was

standing in a shop with my friend. My friend was smoking. From a distance, my father saw and mistook that I was smoking, that the smoke was coming from me. When I went back home he started shouting and beating me. I thought, you have already beaten me, so why not smoke! I have already received the punishment, so why not start smoking. Just my anger towards him and I started smoking. And I felt I have become a man when I say no to my father. The same problem you all will be facing in your house. When they say no to you they feel they have become independent, they are now a man, they are now adults. They can think on their own. It is just the desire for freedom that comes out as a big No! Anything you say, all they know is No! Anything you try. See, to do some work there are three ways: do it by yourself or hire someone or tell your kids not to do! It will be done. Just anything, straight No! They feel strong when they say no to you. When they say no their ego feels strong. It is nature. So, I asked him, your anger towards your father only started this habit. So first work on that anger. First be authentic, integrate. See, if you are angry, express it on him. If you feel expressing it on him will create karma, the cycle, the chain, you will again express on you and it will create one more samskara, then at least know how to express it in the air. That is what we call releasing the samskara, karma dahana. In the Yoga Sutra they have a technique, they have a method. If you cannot express the anger on the other person, if you feel the cycle, the karma charka will be created, means you will shout, she will weep and you will again shout, it is just a routine, it will only develop. If you feel this will only happen, then at least release it in the air. Be authentic in you anger. When you are not authentic, it will start expressing in so many ugly ways. Understand, anything, anything, whether it is anger or guilt or lust or pain or fear, if you are not authentic with that emotion, with that energy, it will express it in a very perverted way, very perverted way. All perversions, all mental disorders are just perverted cerebral expressions, are disturbed, distorted expression of these emotions. Understand these emotions are power, energy to your being. You can see, when you become angry how energetic you become. Your whole body is alive, every cell is just living, your whole energy is alive. When you are filled with lust, you can see the fear will not be there. You will not have fear. No fear will be there. That is why knowing the laws of the country, people commit mistakes. They know the laws of the country, they know the laws of the society, they will know everythting. But fear will not have any place when you are filled with lust, because that lust is power, energy. If you are authentic with that energy, that energy will liberate you. The energy will liberate you, because all these energies, the lust is mooladhara charka, the base charka, fear is second, the swadishtana charka, worry, constantly brooding over, guilt is manipuraka, the third charka. Each of these energies are base material for your energy centres. Each of these energies are worshipped as gods in our tradition. Understand, each of these centers are

worshipped as gods in our tradition. We worship lust. We worship fear. Worshipping lust is the Shiva linga. See our masters are so courageous to put the Shiva linga in the temple and worship, because of the authentic energy. If you are authentic in your lust you will be liberated. If you are authentic in your fear, you will be liberated. Any emotion, if you are authentic you will be liberated. The main problem with us, we are not authentic with

anything. Constantly calculating. With any emotion, before expressing, calculating the after- effects and the side-effects. If the after-effect is going to be serious, you just suppress it , if

it is not going to be serious, you shout too much. See, the same mistake, who does, that only decides the punishment. Who does decides. Understand, everything else is a story. No, no, I am equal to all, that and all you can tell for others, not for yourself. At least with yourself be authentic, integrate. One more thing, person who never looks into his problems, person who constantly believes he is integrated, person who thinks, I am ok, person who is not ready to look into his problem, will never be able to achieve the truth. Authenticity! See one thing, at least you should know the accounts properly. To others you can tell stories, on problem. I am this, I am this, I am that. At least for you, you should know the accounts. You should know the truth, you should know the fact. Let you know the facts about you completely. Sit and analyze. If the same mistake, if this guy does, how I will react, same mistake if this person does, how I am reacting? Try to grind, try to polish, try to be honest with yourself. Integrating yourself, bringing honesty to yourself is the only way to remove the hypocrisy. Person who has removed the hypocrisy from the inner space will experience enlightenment. Ramakrishna says beautifully, integrating your inner chattering and your spoken words is enlightenment. You will be shocked. He says, just integrate your inner chattering and the words that you are uttering, let both of them be integrated, you are enlightened. He says, Man muk ek karo. The mind and the words, inner chattering and the words, if they are connected you are liberated. I tell you, to live in a body in which the inner chattering and the words are connected is heaven, is heaven. No other pleasure can show you that ecstasy like living in a body where this inner chattering and the verbal, spoken words are integrated. It is just pure ecstasy. It feels so good. Constant ecstasy, that is what I call Nithyananda. If you can live inside a body in which the inner chattering and the spoken word are integrated, they are in tune, suddenly you will see that you are living inside a hollow bamboo. You are living with such a vast inner space. VOLUME-II

As on now you feel constantly suffocated. That is why you cannot sit with yourself. You will be surprised to know, nine days I sat in the room, did not even come out of the room for nine days. No TV, no music, no iPod, no video, nothing, no entertainment things. Just I

sat, nine days I did not come out. The people who were taking care of me, the ashramites traveling with me said, Swamiji lets go and have fresh air, and lets go here and lets go there. I said, no, I don’t feel like. You see, it is not that I felt like going out and I controlled myself. I don’t have to. I don’t have to. If I want to, simply I can go out and simply I can go around and do some sightseeing. There was no other routine. But I didn’t feel like. Morning I will get up, just sit and maybe one or two meal in a day and then just sit, and relax. Even people who live around me were shocked because they have never seen me sitting in one place for nine days. Nine days I did not come out of the room, full nine days. They were asking me, what is this Swamiji, why? I just, I don’t feel like. Understand, you can sit with yourself only if your mind and words are integrated, only if you have enough inner space. We were in Vancouver, Canada. There was so much of skiing and snow and everything is going on around. They were saying, Swamiji lets go there, lets go here. I said, no, nothing is there. What is there? I am completely comfortable with myself. I can sit with myself for hours. I don’t need anything to entertain me. We need so much of entertainment because we cannot sit with ourselves. Suffocation. Understand, if you cannot sit with yourself, your inner chattering and the spoken words is not integrated. You cannot experience the power of sound. The basic quality to experience the power of sound is you must be able to sit with yourself doing nothing. People were shocked! They asked me, how can you sit? What is there? How can you not just sit? Human beings have lost one big dimension of their life. If you cannot sit with yourself, be very clear, you have lost one major dimension of your life. A person who is born blind, he cannot understand what is missing. You cannot explain to him. A person who is blind from birth, can you explain to him what he is missing? No! Even if you try to explain, he will only misunderstand. A small story: One blind guy, blind from birth, one friend came to him and said, my child died. He asked, why? Why did your child die? He said, no, we gave some milk, because of that milk he died. Milk? What is milk? It is a white liquid, he says. White means, he asks. Don’t you know? It is like a crane. Crane means what? How will it be? He just showed with his hands to explain and told the friend, touch and see. This is how a crane will be. The blind friend touches and says, such a big thing if you give the child it will die only! How can it swallow? If you try to explain something to a person who is blind from birth, he cannot relate. And you cannot even make him understand what he is missing. Same way, I tell you, if you cannot sit with yourself, what you are missing, I cannot explain. Not being able to sit with

themselves means does not have so much of inner space. So much of suffocation! Let all the furniture, all the junk out. See, now it is like you have too much of furniture, not only furniture. Somehow you feel all this junk will be useful sometime. You see, these mad people, they will go around and collect everything, every cover and bag and everything from the road. And if you ask them, why, they say, no it will be useful sometime. They will keep all those things in the house and they will be sleeping outside. That is what we are doing. We have collected enough of furniture and junk. Furniture means which you are using now, junk means which you think you will use in the future. But you will never use it. Collecting everything and keeping it in the inner space and you are sleeping outside. You are never able to into your inner space. So much smell, it is so dirty. You always live outside with your TV, with all your iPod, with your laptop, with your car, with some other entertainment program. You not being able to sit with yourself means you are able to enter into your own home, your own inner space. Understand, you are completely cheated by this consumeristic culture. The worst thing that can happen to human beings is to be cheated by the consumeristic culture. Consumeristic culture means you can have anything. Have more, have more! What to do? That later on we will take care. That we will think later on. Now, have more. You are bombarded with desires. You are blasted with advertisements constantly. So much of advertisements! Please don’t mistake me. I am not disrespecting, but I am telling you the truth. So much of advertisement for food and medicine is not good. See, constantly you are seeing the restaurants. I am not comparing or criticizing. Everywhere so much of advertisement for food, what will happen? Every time you see such big, big burger photographs and you will think why not have one? So much of consumeristic attitude! Understand, you lose your inner space. The inner space is lost. You cannot sit with yourself. One more thing, you are taught, you are conditioned to think you are lazy, useless. I am not encouraging you to be lazy, but I am telling that when you want, you should be able to sit with yourself. You should have integrity, clarity, freedom and energy just to sit with yourself. The person who cannot sit with himself, he may have anything, he will not have his self. He may have anything. Why people need so much of entertainment? I have seen, people in India, I have seen. They will be eighty or eighty five. They would have got married, their son would have got married, their grand kids would have got married. They have nothing to do. Even they cannot sit with themselves. From morning till night they will be reading the same Hindu newspaper, with the big glass and reading the matrimonial columns. What for, nobody knows! Just because they cannot sit with themselves! No, true! All the old magazines they will collect and they will be sitting and reading. What is there in the old magazines? No, no what else is there to do? Because running, running, running so much, you lost the ability to sit with yourself. You lost the ability to sit with yourself! The cerebral layer means disintegrated being, unconnected being, completely disconnected with yourself is the reason why we are not able to experience the power of sound. Understand, when Vishwamitra can experience, when Durvasa can experience, when Arjuna can experience. It is not that Arjuna is a great enlightened being. This fellow is a

pukka selfish fellow, using all the powers to kill people, and not even in a moral way, using all crooked ways. But he is able to use all the powers. He handled it, then why can’t we? The reason is, they are authentic even in their anger. See, anger itself is not wrong, lust itself is not wrong, but from where it comes, if it comes in an uncorrupted way, in a pure way, you will live it and leave it. You don’t have to drop smoking, smoking will drop you. If you are complete, if you are smoking just for smoking not because your anger towards the father turns as smoking. Then you can’t be healed. You will never be healed. Understand, if you are not able to drop any addiction, you are not addicted to it. The root of the addiction is somewhere else. People come and tell me, I am addicted to alcohol. Swamiji, please heal me, cure me. I tell them, what do you mean by the word addiction? Do you want to drink? No! Then why do you drink? At that point I want to drink. Why? You know you don’t want to drink. How can you say you are not able to control. People ask me, please you control me Swamiji. What do you mean? Do you want me to take away your car key? What do you mean by you control me? You are intelligent enough. Just understand, they are not directly addicted to alcohol, some other anger or vengeance, or some other emotion got perverted and that is associated with addiction. Like the story I told you. That boy is not directly addicted to cigarette. No! His anger took a perversion and he started smoking. Whenever he smokes, his unconscious feels satisfied he is taking revenge on his father. He always says, when I leave the smoke, I feel I am leaving it on my father’s face, I am blowing it on my father’s face. His unconscious feels satisfied when it uses the anger in some other way. He feels satisfied: I am taking revenge on my father! Impossible, you cannot drop addiction. You cannot drop addiction unless you are authentic, unless you are able to understand to what you are addicted. I told him you are addicted to the anger, vengeance to your father. You are not directly addicted to smoking. Heal that, smoking will drop you. You don’t have to drop smoking, smoking will drop you. If you are addicted to something, understand, if you are not able to drop something through your logical analyzing, be very clear, you have the perverted emotions. You have the perverted being. Your inner chattering and the spoken words are not integrated, are not clearly connected. They are not directly relating with each other. The power of sound can be experienced only when the spoken words and the inner chattering are directly connected.

Durvasa is not bothered. When the anger fills him, he does not bother who he is cursing. He cursed Shiva! You know that? He cursed Shiva, Mahadeva! He did not even bother who he is cursing. When he is filled with anger, he is authentic. When Vishwamitra was filled with lust, he was authentic. When he was filled with guilt, he was authentic. When you are authentic with any emotion, when you are directly connected with that emotion, that emotion will liberate you. It will liberate you. No emotion will bind you. They will bind you only when you are not facing them face to face, only when you are not connecting with them directly. Even fear, when you go into the fear, you will be liberated. Here, Shiva is giving a beautiful technique to work on the power of sound. Let me read the

sutra in Sanskrit, then we will know the meaning and how to use this technique. Now we all know there is something called the power of sound, means the sound can transport you to a different plane of existence. There were masters who used this science. And I even told you experiences from my life. And now we have a technique, how to use it in our life. And we know why they were able to use and why we are not able to use, the reason why they were able to experience the power of sound and we are not able to experience. Here we have the technique for that problem also, we have the solution also for that problem. Just understand these three things. Through the power of sound you can be transported to a different plane of existence, and it is possible, many have lived. And second fact, we are not able to live. Something is wrong with us, then how we can achieve that same power, how we can relate, connect with that power. Here Shiva is giving us the technique for two things. One, how to connect yourself, elevate yourself to the level where you can use the power of sound, and second, how to use that power of sound and achieve enlightenment. Two things, first he is going to help you to integrate, next he is going to help you to evolve: integrating yourself and evolving beyond yourself. Here he is giving the technique. Pranavaadi samutchaaraat plutaande sunya bhaavanaat Sunyaaya paraaya shaktye sunyatam iti Bhairavi Again the big problem is translation. Sanskrit is such a poetic language. You cannot translate poems even from English poems to English prose. No! You can’t translate. If you translate, you can say what he means but you cannot say what all he wants to express. Maybe you can express only one dimension. Poem is like a 360 degree vision, prose is like a 120 degree vision. Only one slice of a pizza! One bit! You can’t express the whole truth. And here I am trying to translate a Sanskrit poem to English! Maybe I will just try to give the technique. Intone a sound, O Bhairavi, AUM, ‘ah’, ‘uh’, ‘ma’, the pranava. Slowly as sound enters the soundfulness, let you also enter and become enlightened. If you do not understand the sutra it is okay. Understand the technique. That is more than enough. I will explain the technique. I am reading the sutra just for the future, to put it on record.

Pranavaadi samutchaaraat plutaande sunya bhaavanaat Sunyaaya paraaya shaktye sunyatam iti Bhrairavi O Bhairavi, by perfect intonation of the pranava ‘ah’, ‘uh’, ‘ma’ or the sacred syllable ‘AUM’, by contemplating on the void at the end of the sound as sound enters into the soundfulness, let you also enter into the energy and be liberated. This is the technique from Mahadeva to Devi. He is addressing, O Bhairavi. Bhairavi is the name of the Devi. He is

addressing, O Bhairavi, use this technique and let the people experience enlightenment. This technique is given to us through Devi. Devi is enlightened, no doubt. It is given to us so that we will become enlightened. This murthi is made from the dhyana sloka from this book. It describes that Devi was sitting on the lap of Shiva and he was teaching the Shiva sutras. The same way this murthi was designed, because I feel this is the book of the books. This book is beyond, incomparable, no other book can claim that they have the solutions for all possible problems. Here Shiva practically solves all the existing, existed and yet to exist problems. He gives solutions for everything. He says, intone a sound as AUM, ‘ah’, ‘uh’, ‘ma’ slowly. As sound enters soundfulness, let you also enter and liberate. Let us understand the technique first and let me try to connect how this is going to directly help to integrate our inner chattering and verbalization. How it is going to create more inner space, how it is going to integrate us and how it can elevate us to a different plane of existence. Understand, when you create a particular sound your mind will be occupied only with that sound, especially loudly. If you are creating internally, you will be doing two three things. I always tell, don’t close your eyes and sit here. People say, no, no Swamiji, I am meditating and listening. No! Good listener is the person who is thinking about something else. He will be sitting and acting as if he is a good listener. But what will he be doing? He is lost somewhere else. If you are using the words internally, your whole being will not be integrated. No! Create the sound loudly. Let others also listen. Actually, you listen what you think only when you talk to others. See many times in your life, when you talk to others about your idea, you yourself get new ideas. People think you planned and now you are coming and giving presentation. No! Suddenly you discovered it, that’s all. When you are talking to others, suddenly you discover it. Actually, great truths are discovered when they were presenting the truths, that’s all. It was not discovered earlier by contemplating and thinking and then presentation is given. No! Orators, speakers look very intelligent and filled with wisdom because they are constantly discovering when they talk. If you want to be an intelligent person, don’t think you have to think, contemplate, meditate and discover the truth. No! Just start talking to the people as if you know the truth. I am giving you some of the business secrets, some the great truths. In Sanskrit we say, by listening we learn only one quarter. By meditating and contemplating, you know half. The third portion you learn only when you talk to others. And the fourth part will be learnt, experienced through the experience. You will become a complete being when you experience it. 25% of the truth and the knowledge and the new things can happen to you when you talk loud. If you talk to others 25% new things can happen to you. That is why people go on talking. Because, once you have found the knack, God, when I am talking new, new things are coming up to my being. I am expressing new, new things, you start enjoying talking. Even if you don’t have somebody, just catch somebody or you have pets who can’t run away, start talking. Start giving your presentations and you will see suddenly you are talking too many intelligent things, and

things are falling in tune. Here Shiva also says, start loudly, only then you will be listening. You won’t listen if you are chanting internally. People ask me, Swamiji if I chant silently, internally it will be nice. No! You will nice because you have fallen asleep. People come and tell me, no, no, Swamiji. I chanted silently, it was so great! Such a great experience! Don’t think it is a meditative experience, you would have slept, maybe a good sleeping pill. Chanting a mantra internally, inside the mind, may be a good technique for sleeping, not for falling into meditation. Falling into meditation, start with a loud voice, and slowly you will find the whole inner being is filled with that voice. Your whole energy is concentrated to that sound. Now slowly reduce the sound. Go to the depth from where that sound is arising, from where that sound is coming out, go to that source, go to that being. See your inner space filled with that soundfulness. I want all of you to know, silence is not soundlessness. Soundlessness, absence of sound is dead silence. If you are jumping, if you are working towards the soundlessness directly, you will only be constantly disturbed, irritated by other sounds, People, the so-called meditators, the silent meditators, they will create such a hell to the whole house. They will tell, eh, keep quiet, switch off the cell phone, switch off the telephone! The noise which they make, and they will be so filled with irritation. I have seen people who have been working towards the absence of sound, who want absence of sound, for them to meditate for ten, twenty minuets, they will turn the whole house upside down. They will shout at this person, that person and after shouting, before sitting for meditation, they will shout going around, keep quiet, keep quiet! And after coming out of the meditation they will shout, you didn’t have sense, you did that and you did this. Even if you do something, create some noise at other times they won’t record so clearly. It means what? It means while they were sitting for meditation, they were recording like voice mail. Whatever was going on was being recorded. People who work for this soundlessness, even when they are sitting, they will be so irritated. Don’t you have sense, I am meditating, keep quite! When you are working towards the dead silence, even a small sound will irritate and disturb you. You are bound to be because you are excluding. Anything which you exclude will take revenge on you. Anything you exclude will take revenge on you! And you will see purposely sounds are coming towards you. Sometimes, even if the sounds don’t come, you will be waiting for them. A small story: Like this, one great guy who is trying to work with this absence of sound, the dead meditators, I call them, with long face, serious and they can’t tolerate even a small sound. They need absolute silence, absolute means pin-drop silence! One guy like this sitting on the banks of a village tank was meditating. Usually that is where they will meditate. They will take bath and sit there and meditate. One day he heard the sound of anklets. One girl had come to fetch water. First the sound of the anklets, then the sound of water ‘glug’, ‘glug’ as they put the pot in the water, the sound when the pot gets filled. That guy, he

opened the eye and saw, got irritated and shouted. Don’t you have any sense, I am meditating here. Why don’t you come without the anklets? The next day she came without the anklets. But the water fetching sound, with that sound he got irritated. He shouted, why don’t you get a vessel which will not create any sound. The third day he was just sitting and meditating and waiting for the sound of the anklets and the water fetching sound. The third day even if you don’t get the sound you will be just expecting to get irritated, to get that sound. You will be waiting for some sound. When you want complete soundless silence, you are in trouble. Here Shiva says, enter into the soundfulness, the intensity of sound. Then no sound can disturb you. He says, go into that sound, source of the sound. That is what we call the anahata dhvani, uncreated sound, the sound which is not created by two things hitting. Ahata means created or hitting, anahata means uncreated, primordial sound. When you go to that soundfulness, you will experience a sound which is silence, the silence which can’t be disturbed by any sound. Silence which can’t be disturbed by any sound is the true silence. Silence is not the absence of sound, silence means intense living silence. Understand, I am giving a new meaning to the word silence, intense living silence, not dead graveyard silence. These guys who are working for the dead silence, the soundlessness, even in the graveyard they will not be relaxed. They will say, oh, the air sound is coming or some bird chirping, they will be disturbed by some sound. If you are excluding, you will be disturbed. If you are including, nothing will disturb you. Shiva is the great master who includes everything. Let me describe the technique so that you can play with the technique, play with this powerful technique. Understand, this technique will do two work. One, will first heal you, integrate you so that you can start experimenting and experiencing the power of sound. You achieve the state of Vishwamitra or Vasishta or Durvasa. You will be able to play with the power of sound. The second thing, you will be able to use this same technique to elevate you to the enlightened consciousness. Healing you is one part, elevating you is the second part. Healing you means bringing you to the level of Durvasa, Vasishta or Vishwamitra. Elevating you means, what I said that just by sound you can walk on fire, you will not be burnt. That is elevating, transporting you to a different plane of existence. Both can be done just by this one technique. People ask me, technique seems so small, how can such big work happen Swamiji? It feels like it is too good to be true. Understand, when you get a small key, if you start analyzing logically, gosh, such a big house, such a small key! I think this owner is cheating me! Do not use your negative logic before you try. Just try! Try for a few days. At least you should have tried for few times and then you can decide whether it opens or not. Our logic! Gosh, problem is so big, solution is so small. House is so big, key does not have to be house size but at least it should be door size. Logically that is what it should be no? It may not be house size but at least it should be door size. This is too much, at least twenty feet tall house and a three inch key. How can this open? My problems are so big and this Swami is giving half an hour discourse and he says I can become Vasishta, I can become Vishwamitra.

What does he mean by this? Understand, I am not here to give any false promise. No! I am not here to give you something which is too good to be true. I am here just to share the things that I experienced and just to share the technology that millions have experienced. This technology has been developed by at least two million inner scientists with ten thousand years of research and development, practiced by one billion people around the world. This is the essence of the vedic tradition. Vedic tradition boasts of at least two million inner scientists and ten million inner science laboratories. In India we have one crore temples and ashrams, one crore temples and ashrams where everyday congregation happens. We don’t believe in holiday religion. No! Every day congregation happens. One crore inner science laboratories and one crore scientists working on this technology, who are working with these mantras, these great truths and one billion people following this technology. Understand that I am expressing the experience of the great masters. All you need to do is just play with these techniques. You don’t even have to be serious meditators. A serious meditator is the guy who is depressed. No, really! All these so called serious meditators, depressed fellows, they can’t laugh. Really, just go to the serious meditators places. They can’t laugh. They lose the nature. They become so serious and so arrogant. Even God can’t help them, because they have become arrogant in the name of God. They became serious in the name of simplicity. They will try seriously to be simple. They will try so seriously to be simple, the whole joy is lost. Being simple means being with all your mistakes, that’s all. Nothing else, that’s all. Just accept yourself. If you can’t accept you, just accept that you can’t accept you as you are, that’s all! Either accept you with all your mistakes or accept that you can’t accept you, at least that. Over! But they will try their best, first this and then that. This step by step process creates all the confusion. Here Shiva gives you simple and straight forward techniques. That is why this book did not become popular. No, really! If Shiva gives complicated techniques, blow your nose ten hundred times, count 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and hold for ten minutes and blow it in the other way for eight times and bend your back twenty times. Sit in that posture, that posture, then people feel ego satisfaction. No, really, they feel that their ego is satisfied. Now I learnt some yoga, some technique. They feel they have received something worthy. Simple things do not appeal to an intellectual mind. Simple things, people do not feel connected to it. They become so complicated, anything which is very complicated, they feel very connected. I have seen, when I tell people go around the hill ten times. In my native place, going around the hill is a famous tradition. Sixteen kilometers, ten miles, they will have to walk. If I tell them, please go around the hill ten times, do the girivellam, they will leave so happily. They will go around and tell, Swamiji gave me a big solution, all my problems disappeared. I am so happy I came and met him. If I tell them, please sit for ten minutes and meditate everyday, I think this Swami doesn’t know much. This Swamiji doesn’t know much about spirituality. Its okay, I think after all he is young person. He will not know too much about spirituality. Anyhow, whatever he knows he told me, but I will go for second opinion. See, when you tell people something which is straight, people feel, its okay, I just came to see what he tells. I just came to check out. They don’t feel connected. If you nicely blast them,

actually if you beat them, then they are happy. Left and right! Blowing this nose ten times and this nose eleven times; bend this way and that way; sit this way, that way, then they are quite happy. Yes! I paid two hundred dollars, I got some material, I learnt something. But here is Shiva straightaway giving a simple technique. He says chant the ‘Om-kara’ loudly. With that same loud expression, go into the source from where the sound is coming in your being. He is not telling you how to sit. He is not even telling you should not lie down. You can even lie down. He is not putting any condition. He is not giving you anything else. He is not telling you should not eat this, you should eat that, you should not do this, you should not do that, nothing. Actually, inside, unconsciously, everybody wants some do’s and don’ts, because you are trained to live with do’s and don’ts. Here Shiva is not giving any do’s and don’ts. No! He is just giving you the technique and he is telling, be authentic. That is where the problem starts. It is too simple. If it is complicated, you start feeling connected and you start practicing it. If it is too simple, because you don’t feel any respect for it, you don’t practice it. That is why I always tell people, in our meditation camps, I make them do there itself. Once you do, then you know. Then you know the power of it, then you know the power of the technique. Today, here also, just for ten minutes, we will try this technique and see the power of it. See, if I give you just the glimpse of the meditation, just one experience of the meditation, you will never stop doing it, never miss it. Giving one glimpse of the meditation is what we call initiation, deeksha. Deeksha means making the person experience at least once so that he will continue, he will continue to experiment. See, if you experience once, that’s enough, you will continue to experience. You will continue to practice. But till then, your intellect will be playing its own game. At least once I should show how the key opens, then I can hand over the key. Then you know, yes, this key opens this house. Then you can be inside the house or outside the house, but you have the confidence. This key opens the house. If I don’t show even once, you don’t have the confidence to use the key. So now let us work on the key, just for a few minutes. Let me explain the technique once more. You will create intense, deep sound of ‘om-kara’ (chants ‘Oooooooommm’). When you create that sound, for a few minutes you will be listening to that sound. After a few minutes, let you be creating that sound loudly, along with that, internally just search for the source of the sound, from where that very vibration is coming. Where is the source of that vibration, that sound? Understand, first you will listen to the sound you are creating, then you will go to the source of the sound, from where the sound is coming. I will guide you step by step. You can try. Please sit in a relaxed way, you don’t have to sit straight and all. Sit in a very relaxed ways and you can close your eyes. For some reason, if you cannot sit for the next ten minutes to do this meditation, or if you feel you don’t want to do the meditation for some reason, you are free to leave the hall. Or you can just sit with closed eyes, but please do not open your eyes during the meditation. Because if you open the eyes and see this side and that side and talk, you will be disturbing the others, just for that. Either meditate, or if you don’t feel like,

just sit. One more thing, the sound should come from navel. If it comes from throat, your throat will become dry. The sound should come from a deep level, just create like a vibration (ooooommmm), more like a vibration than like a sound. I am not asking you to shout. No! I am telling you to create it from the navel. Please close your eyes. Just inhale and exhale as slowly as possible. Now start creating the vibration intensely with closed eyes (oooommm) Create intensely not loudly. Like a vibration. Create more intensely. Intone intensely. Create from your navel center. Intensely. Create from your navel. (5 minutes) Now, continue to create the sound and slowly see the source. Continue to create the vibration but seek the source from where the vibrations are rising, from where the sound is coming, go into the source, search for the source. (5 minutes) Just enter the soundfulness. Enter the source from where the sound is coming, from where it is arising. Now slowly reduce the sound, just reduce the sound, but enter into the source from where the sound is coming. Don’t stop, just reduce the sound. But enter into the source from where the sound is coming. (5 minutes) Go to the source of the sound. Go into the source. Now relax, let your eyes be closed. Don’t create any sound, but go to the source from where the sound was coming. Enter into that source of soundfulness. Let your eyes be closed. Go to the source from where the sound was rising. Just be with the memory of that soundfulness. (5 minutes) Om Nithyanandam! Relax, you can open your eyes. Now, I just took ten minutes to give you a glimpse. Try this for ten days. For ten days just

play with this technique. Suddenly you will find you will be able to sit with yourself without any entertainment and you are feeling the inner space much, much more than what you are feeling now. The suffocation which is there, the irritation which is there in you will not exist in your inner space. Suddenly you will see you are in a different plane of existence altogether. You will see because many have experimented and experienced with this technique. I myself have worked with this technique and it just does miracles.
