In the place called "Panchamukham" with all five faces of Paramashiva in the form of five hillocks of Arunachala, bearing witness to this auspicious moment in the history of the word itself, the great Avadhuti Isakki Swamigal initiated the transfer of the ultimate wisdom from the Upanishad to His Divine Holiness. Though the very embodiment of these sacred texts being the incarnation of Paramashiva, Isakki Swamigal was the Guru who gifted the young incarnation this book 'Atma Puranam' at the age of three in the physical plane. In the grand Leela of the life of the young incarnation on the Planet, this book so to say, sowed the seeds for the great revival of the sacred Hindu knowledge and scriptures which His Divine Holiness later manifested through reviving the nation of KAILASA.
Isakki Swamigal and Mātā Vibhutānanda Puri would sit for long hours with The Avatār exploring the Truths of Vedānta through reading of this book. This book contains the three major Upanishadic texts that is the īśa, Keno and Katha Upanishads. Mātā Vibhutānanda Puri would read the verses and explain its Truths while Isakki Swamigal would give his commentary.
The book itself is a valuable antique heirloom which was handed to Isakki Swamigal by his predecessor and like this, ritualistically passed down from Guru to disciple in the lineage. It is one of the only copies of its kind as many of the ancient texts were destroyed recklessly by invading anti-Hindu forces. The book pages are made of fragile parchment and tamil text is printed in black ink. In several places, one can see the notes and marks made by the Supreme Pontiff of Hinduism Himself or one of the enlightened beings who owned the book before Him.
The Upanishad itself, as a Hindu Source scripture, has done more to shape the Hindu literature, history, entertainment, and culture than any book ever written. Its influence on world history is unparalleled, as this book dates back to the Divine origins of Paramashiva Himself and the Truths taught in the Upanishad has shaped the oldest living civilization - Hinduism - on the Planet.
With gratitude to SPH'S guru Isakki Swamigal , who is photographed here as he sits in Panchamukham
Isakki Swamigal's disciple Mathaji Vibhutananda Puri, who was the guru of SPH
As an introduction to a series of satsangs organized by SPH, on Upanishad, He introduced this sacred book as follows:
"Fortunately, the first ever book I was introduced to in My life, before even any schoolbook entered My life, the first ever book I was introduced to, is the Upanishads by Isakki Swamigal. And still we have that copy with us; we have that book; the four major Upanishads, Tamil translation. At that time, I cannot read; he (Isakki Swamigal) will read and give explanations. Kuppammal will ask questions, and he will give answers. And, actually, only through that book I even learnt the alphabets! Fortunately, even the language was taught to Me only by My Gurus. I did not go to school that regularly to learn something from that school. I went to school whenever there were no festivals in the temple, when I was free, which is less than sixty days in a year! Please understand, Tiruvannamalai Temple has at least three-hundred days' festivals in a year! And in those sixty days, sometimes it will be summer holidays for the school, and weekends. Anyhow... Because I learnt the language to study the Upanishads, that book has become so part of Me! It is actually a Tamil translation and Commentary. I can literally just repeat the whole book! I can just literally repeat the whole book!" - SPH, on 5 January 2015, in the discourse titled: 'Upanishad - The Expression of the Cosmos'
