Beside them, a person in white dhoti-style clothing crouches at the left edge, and a string of red crackers lies on the ground. Other figures and a distant light appear in the dark background. The scene reflects the Deepavali cracker-bursting described on the page.2006-10-21Night photograph of a fire-walking ritual on bare ground with a smouldering dark bed of ash and embers. A central figure with long dark hair, a red bindi, a rudraksha mala and a gold beaded garland over saffron-orange robes with yellow borders stands barefoot on a stone slab at the edge of the fire. Several saffron-robed sannyasis and a bald priest with white ash marks stand alongside, and a man in white dhoti and shirt holds his hands together to the right.2013-04-03Night outdoor ceremony on a dirt ground lit by torches and a floodlight. In the foreground, a man in an orange-red robe with a white garland of red and yellow flowers holds a long trident-like staff and a flaming torch. Beside him, a bearded man in orange-red robes and a rudraksha-style necklace raises a flaming torch. A standing crowd of devotees in orange, red and white garments watches behind them, and at the right a man in a white shirt and dark trousers swings a flaming torch. A burning fire pit sits in the lower right. Strings of coloured lights and a golden deity murti appear in the background.2018-03-02Night photograph of a group walking along a dirt path lined with strings of multicolored fairy lights on a red wall and through trees. Foreground figures in saffron and orange robes with rudraksha malas walk beside a man in orange-red robe and beard; behind them men wear white dhotis with gold borders, rudraksha malas and red flower garlands, and one man in a grey shawl walks at right. One figure at left holds a small flashlight. A pile of concrete slabs lies at left. No figure can be confidently identified as a person from appearance alone, so the a person field is unsure.2016-10-30Outdoor evening scene at an ashram courtyard with a red wall, green gate and trees behind. A man in an orange dhoti and orange shawl bends low to light small oil lamps or lit wicks set in a red-brown earthen ground, with smoke rising. Beside him a man in a white dhoti with a bare upper body and a garland of rudraksha stands holding a stick. To the left, a shaven-headed man in orange robes and rudraksha mala walks past. At the right, a woman in white sari holds her hands together in prayer. Behind them, several men in white and light robes stand near the covered walkway, one wearing a red-and-white rudraksha mala. The setting suggests a puja or lamp-lighting ritual.2011-10-26October 30 20162016-10-30 +1 copiesSeptember 08 20112011-09-08
