A large seated congregation holds lit oil lamps during an evening ritual in a hall with a white floor and a red-and-white canopy at the top left. In the foreground, several shaved-headed men in white dhotis with red-bordered cloth and rudraksha malas hold flames and raise them toward the centre. Behind them, rows of devotees sit cross-legged, many with lamps, some with palms pressed together. Women in saris and salwar kameez, and a few Western-looking women in blue and green tops, sit among them. Small brass plates and offerings lie on the floor, and a camera on a tripod stands at the far left. No individual is clearly identifiable as the a person, so the scene is best described as an aarti with oil lamps performed by priests and devotees.
