Close view of a dark carved granite pillar in a temple hall, with finely sculpted panels of figures and scrolling foliage on each face. Upper panels show standing figures in dance or procession poses, and lower panels show dense floral and geometric relief. Stone colonnade and pale paved floor appear blurred in the background. No people are visible in the frame; the pillar carvings depict figures in stone.

Warm ochre stone shows carved horizontal bands with figures in low relief, including reclining or dancing sculpted forms and decorative friezes. No living people are visible. The image is a stone carving, not a person or ceremony.

A photograph of a sandstone bas-relief carving at Angkor Wat, Cambodia, showing a reclining deity figure with a multi-headed serpent (naga) hood arching above and behind it. Below and beside the figure are rows of smaller carved figures and ornamental scrollwork in low relief. The stone has a warm golden-ochre tone and a vertical crack runs through the carving. No living people are visible.
