A marigold or orange garland rests on her hair. Her long dark hair falls down her back. Before the tree, a low white-washed masonry bench and raised plinth hold a red and patterned cloth with small offerings. Aerial roots hang from massive branches overhead.2013-04-09A large old banyan tree with many thick aerial roots and hanging prop roots fills the right side of an outdoor courtyard of reddish-brown earth. A lone standing figure in a saffron-orange dhoti and matching orange shawl, with a bare upper body, stands on a dark stone slab at the left, hands folded in front of the chest in a prayer gesture. Small stone platforms with raised edges surround the tree trunks, and a low tree-trunk stump with white offerings sits at the base. Trees and sky fill the background. The figure's face and hair are not clearly visible, so their identity cannot be determined.2011-09-02A photograph of a large banyan tree with many aerial roots and hanging thin strands, set in an open outdoor courtyard with red earth ground. A single standing figure with long dark hair, wearing an orange-brown garment with yellow stripes and a yellow-flowered garland, faces the tree from a dark stone platform. Small red-and-white woven mats are laid on the stone and ground, and a low stone bench and a raised circular stone wall surround the trunk.2013-07-11A barefoot person in saffron-orange robes stands with palms pressed together in namaste on a dark polished stone platform beside a large banyan tree. Their long dark hair is pulled back and they wear a light orange-yellow garland around the neck. Nearby, a low white circular stone platform surrounds the tree's base, and a small patterned red-and-blue rug lies at the edge of the platform with a small offering on it. Aerial roots hang from wide branches overhead in a dusty outdoor ashram setting.2013-04-09A photograph of a devotee standing barefoot on a dark stone platform facing a massive banyan tree with many aerial roots. The person wears a long rust-orange dhoti-style garment with gold-yellow borders and a matching orange shawl over the shoulders, with long dark hair in a single braid down the back. Woven red and cream prayer mats lie on the stone platform and on a low ledge near the tree base. Concrete planters surround the tree, with a small wooden bench nearby, and the scene reads as a sacred tree worship spot. The person's face is not visible; the figure is shown from behind.2013-04-01August 29 20112011-08-29 +1 copiesA large old banyan tree with many thick aerial roots and spreading branches forms a shaded grove. At the base of the trunk, a small raised stone platform holds a figure in white ritual cloth with an orange-trimmed shawl and a garland of flowers hanging nearby; the figure appears to be a devotee or priest in white, with the identity of any person uncertain. A dark polished stone floor lies in the foreground, and sunlight filters through the leaves.2010-08-07
