July 13 20092009-07-13Crowded interior of a temple colonnade with tall stone pillars, devotees pressing forward in bright light from an open doorway. Foreground: a young girl with wet hair in a green and yellow sari, and a woman in a black sari with rudraksha mala. A man in white wet clothing and a rudraksha pendant stands at right beside a person in an orange robe. Several devotees wear white or orange clothes, some with hands folded in namaskar. Many people appear damp. A plain description with no visible deity murti or name signage.2009-07-13July 13 20092009-07-13July 13 20092009-07-13Photograph of a narrow stone passage beside a temple, with a tall gopuram covered in painted sculptures visible ahead. In the foreground, a bare-backed figure with long dark hair wears a red sleeveless garment and a red-and-gold garland, facing away from the camera. Behind them, another person in a red garment walks ahead. On the right, a smiling woman in an orange blouse and orange-and-blue patterned sari holds a wooden walking stick. Several more people in light and white clothing follow down the passage between weathered walls and orange railings.2009-07-13A photograph of a queue of devotees inside a bare brick-walled hall leading toward a shrine doorway decorated with a red-and-white garland and a dark interior with a deity altar. In the foreground, a woman in a white sari with a red border stands with folded arms beside another woman in a white sari with gold trim. A man in a white shirt with a red-and-white beaded mala stands at center, next to a woman in an orange salwar kameez holding an orange shawl and a white paper. Several other devotees in white clothing line up behind them, and an older man in a grey jacket stands near the doorway. Orange flags hang above the entrance.2007-02-16A crowded temple interior where many devotees sit closely together on a marble floor against a tall yellow-veined stone wall beside a carved pink granite pillar. Women in saffron, orange, pink, blue and red saris and salwar kameez sit with folded hands and attentive expressions, with men in white shirts and dhotis seated behind them. Some wear rudraksha malas and sit in a row near a bright archway. No clearly identifiable a person figure is visible in this frame, so the scene shows devotees gathered for satsang or darshan in a temple hall.2012-05-10A crowded photograph inside a stone temple corridor with weathered carved pillars and a sunlit doorway behind. A man in white dhoti and shirt on the left holds a metal bucket on a rope. A cluster of devotees fills the passage: two young men in white with yellow scarves at centre, women in saris and salwar kameez, and a man in an orange shirt with a rudraksha mala in the lower right, partly visible and wearing glasses.2009-07-13A photograph of saffron-clad devotees at a stone temple wall. In the foreground, a shaved-headed man in an orange dhoti and shawl wears a long gold-and-white beaded garland and stands beside a blue-edged ledge. Beside him, a person with long dark wavy hair, a white tilak on the forehead, orange garments, a gold garland and bangles leans over the stone ledge with hands resting on it. Other devotees in orange and red garments, including a woman in an orange sari and a bare-headed man, stand behind them near a doorway. The brick-coloured wall is made of rectangular stone blocks.2012-10-12A photograph of devotees walking out through a large dark wooden temple doorway with studded panels. In the foreground a woman in an orange sari with a maroon blouse and gold border wears rudraksha malas and thin-rimmed glasses, a red bindi on her forehead. Behind her a man in an orange dhoti wears a long gold-bead necklace and a rudraksha mala, smiling, and is flanked by other saffron-clad men with white vibhuti marks and rudraksha malas. On the right a man in a black jacket and white trousers with a white vibhuti mark stands by the doorframe. Several other people with white and red marks are behind them, with a pillared temple hall visible in the background.2012-09-12A photograph of a procession moving through a narrow stone-walled passage of a temple. In the centre, a man with swept-back hair, a tilak on his forehead, a heavy gold necklace and an orange-saffron garment walks forward with a white and orange floral garland held at his side; his distinctive long hair and ornate gold necklace are the appearance cues for the Swamiji (probable) candidate. Beside him, a bald man in saffron robes and rudraksha mala holds a small object. Behind them, a woman in a brown and gold sari and other men in white shirts and dhotis follow, and a crowd of men in white and checked shirts stands in the background near yellow and blue metal barriers.2012-09-11May 31 20122012-05-31
