A shaved-headed man in white ritual cloth with a maroon-edged shawl draped over his bare upper body stands outdoors beneath large golden rings hanging from a frame, with coconut palms behind him. He wears a heavy gold bead necklace with a gold pendant and a gold bangle on his upper arm. His right hand is raised to his forehead and his left hand is extended palm-up, with a white sacred mark visible on his brow. The setting suggests a pada puja ritual performed outdoors at an ashram, with eyes lowered in concentration.2010-10-05September 19 20122012-09-19December 31 20112011-12-31Photograph of a seated priest in a white dhoti and white shawl with a maroon border, bare-chested, wearing a heavy gold bead necklace and a brown rudraksha mala. He has a red bindi and a shaved head, and holds a gold bead garland with a small framed deity pendant in both hands while looking down at it. Behind him an older man in white clothes with a white moustache sits with palms pressed together in namaste and a rudraksha mala. Blurred seated devotees in the foreground, some with grey hair, and an orange cloth on the floor suggest a ritual gathering. The priest's appearance does not clearly match the presentation cues for the a person candidate, so the identity is uncertain.2010-10-12December 20 20102010-12-20December 31 20092009-12-31Three young men in white dhotis stand outdoors before an orange curtain and a red-and-gold decorated panel, with a carved stone pillar at right. The man at left wears a gold necklace with a pendant and holds a silver tray with his hands. The man in the centre, wearing a gold necklace and a tilak mark, presses his palms together in anjali mudra. The man at right, shaved-headed and wearing glasses, also wears a gold necklace and holds his palms together in prayer, with white ash marks on his bare upper body. The setting suggests a temple ritual or puja.2010-12-19Outdoor ritual scene under green trees at an ashram setting. A bare-chested young priest in orange dhoti and orange shawl with a gold necklace stands at right, holding a silver tray of yellow offerings. An older woman in white sari with gold border reaches to place offerings on the tray. A man in white shirt with rudraksha mala stands at left, and a woman in cream sari with a red tilak stands behind him. Metal vessels and a brass lamp sit on a table at right. No person here is identifiable as a person; the orange-clad figure is a priest.2012-09-19A shaved-headed man in white ritual cloth with a maroon border sits cross-legged before an offering tray, hands cupped together in prayer with a rudraksha mala around his neck and a red kumkum dot on his forehead. Beside him a woman in a cream sari with red border and a dark beaded mala watches with eyes lowered. Behind them a gold-carved throne stands with red and green cushions, and an orange and maroon cloth hangs in the right foreground. Silver and brass vessels hold offerings of fruit and sweets on the table.2010-11-14Outdoor photo beneath a large banyan tree with bare, dusty ground. A shaved-headed elderly priest with white forehead marks, a gold-beaded necklace and a green cloth over his shoulder holds a brass plate with small cups of coloured offerings. A bare-chested younger attendant with a beard and gold chain stands beside him. On the right, a long-haired person in an orange saffron wrap takes a bundle of yellow flowers and green leaves from a brass bowl held by the priest. Behind them, men in white dhotis and shirts stand watching, one with arms folded. The person in saffron has long hair and a saffron wrap, but the image does not establish identity, so the a person field is unsure.2004-12-31Outdoor ritual scene under large banyan trees. A shaved-headed priest in a white dhoti with gold border and a white shawl with gold edging, wearing a long garland and a sacred thread, holds up offerings in both hands while standing near a stone platform. Brass kalashas, pots and a brass lamp sit on the ground in front of a long stone trough. Around him, several men in white and striped shirts stand with hands folded in devotion. A woman in a yellow-orange sari and red shawl stands nearby, and two women in patterned saris are at the right edge. A camera operator is visible at the upper right. The priest's appearance does not match the a person profile, so he is described only as a priest.2011-09-24July 11 20142014-07-11
