A busy street in an Indian town during a procession. Devotees in white dhotis and shirts carry orange-saffron flags on poles, walking among traffic. Cars, a bus and many motorcycles with riders fill the road. Shops line the street, including a signboard reading Delhi Sweets and Bakery and a Nokia showroom. A uniformed traffic policeman in khaki stands at left. A man in a khaki shirt walks at right beside the flag bearers. No individual here is clearly identified as a person; the scene shows a street rally with orange flags and white-clad participants.2009-01-30October 20 20062006-10-20October 22 20062006-10-22October 22 20062006-10-22January 12 20072007-01-12October 23 20062006-10-23A busy street in an Indian town on a hazy day, with cars, buses, auto-rickshaws and motorbikes crowding a dusty road lined with trees and shopfronts. Men in white shirts and dhotis ride motorcycles and walk along the pavement, and a small vehicle carries green banana plants and foliage toward the procession area. Signboards read AYYANNA and TN 45 on the vehicles, and the scene suggests a roadside gathering for a ratha procession rather than a ceremony itself. No deity or featured ritual figure is clearly visible in the frame.2006-10-20November 10 20112011-11-10May 09 20122012-05-09A busy street scene in a Tamil Nadu town on a hazy day. Many motorcycles, auto-rickshaws and cars fill the road, with riders in white shirts and dhotis and men in pale shirts. A large leafy tree stands in the centre, with strings of small pennants or flags hanging from its branches. On the left, shopfronts and a blue vertical signboard line the street, and a red-and-white bus travels on the right. The crowd is mostly ordinary commuters and pedestrians, with no visible ritual or ceremony in the frame.2006-10-20October 22 20062006-10-22October 22 20062006-10-22
