A woman in a red-and-white silk sari sits cross-legged at left with palms joined in namaste, wearing a red bead mala. Behind an altar draped in magenta and gold brocade stands a large printed portrait of a bearded figure in an orange-saffron turban, with a rudraksha-style mala and gold necklaces, flanked by two more printed figures in turbans, one in purple and one in cream. Marigold and rose garlands hang across the portrait. In front lie brass oil lamps with lit wicks, a brass kalasha with flowers, fruit, a bowl of offerings, and a rangoli of pastel petals on the floor. The setting is a domestic room with bright festive decoration, consistent with a Diwali puja.2020-11-14KAILASA DHUMBARAI, NEPAL on 5/24/20212021-05-24A photograph of a ritual arrangement set before a painted banyan-tree backdrop.
