A barefoot man in saffron-orange robes and a long orange-beaded mala walks across the glowing ash-covered pit while a man in white dhoti and shirt with a long pole rakes the path beside him. Behind them, a crowd of devotees watches, many in white kurtas and dhotis, a woman in a pink sari, and a woman in a cream sari with gold border. A brass pot sits near a tree, and a drummer in a blue shirt plays a large drum at the lower right. Smoke and flames rise from wood and offerings, with marigold garlands on the brick edges. A priest in a yellow dhoti and bare chest stands at left, feeding the fire, with a brass vessel nearby. Behind the pit, a crowd of devotees watches: women in saris of green, pink and orange, and men in white dhotis and shirts. A bare-footed man in a white dhoti and shawl stands near the centre, and boys in red and plaid shirts stand at right. The setting looks like a temple consecration or kumbabhishekam ceremony.2015-05-01A photograph of a homa fire ceremony in a hall with a yellow-ochre wall.
