Around him, devotees stand and kneel in a plain room: a woman in a saffron sari holds a tray of yellow fruit, an older woman in a white sari with an orange border bends forward, a man in white shirt and dhoti stands near the wall, and a man in white shirt is seen from behind. A small tray with lemons, flowers and a plate is set on the floor. Patterned zebra-print armchair stands at the back.2012-10-12October 12 20122012-10-12A seated man in a rust-red and saffron-bordered garment with a long rudraksha mala and gold armlets sits on a sofa at left, smiling and extending his right hand toward a kneeling elderly man in a white shirt and striped dhoti. The kneeling devotee, with a white garland and gold bracelet, bows his head with palms pressed together in namaskar. A younger monk in orange robes kneels nearby, while another orange-clad attendant holds a brass tray of flowers. Women in sarees and salwar behind them stand or sit with hands folded, and rose petals and flowers are scattered on the red cloth before them.2014-07-08A seated figure in an orange saffron garment and a rudraksha mala holds a silver tray of fruit, including apples, bananas and round green fruit, while people sit on a patterned red rug and join palms in prayer. A seated man in a white shirt bows with his head down in front, and a woman in a white sari with a red blouse sits at the right. A woman in a blue-and-white sari at the lower left folds her hands. Before them lie a steel plate with a wrapped offering, a small brass dish, an orange cloth, and steel water bottles. A woman in a white sari with red border stands in the background at the upper right. The setting is a plain white-walled room with a pink basket. The seated orange-clad figure with the long hair and mala has appearance cues consistent with a person, presented as the central figure offering fruit during a puja.2012-10-12Indoor photograph of a devotee kneeling with palms pressed together in namaskar before a seated figure at the lower right, who wears an orange saffron robe and has short dark hair. Behind them, several standing women in saris, one in a green-and-gold sari and another in a beige sari, wear rudraksha malas and hold their hands folded; a man in white kurta with an orange shawl and mala stands at the right. Tiled floor, a small wooden stool, and a white-clad onlooker at the left edge complete the scene.2009-07-10May 08 20172017-05-08Outdoor ritual gathering under a decorated pandal on a red carpet. A bare-chested man with a swept-back hair and an orange turban, wearing an orange shawl, sits on a low wooden seat and receives offerings of sliced fruit from people kneeling beside him. Around them, devotees in white dhotis and white saris with gold borders wear orange shawls, and a cameraman films the scene. Palm fronds and hanging decorations frame the tent, consistent with a ceremony at the Salem ashram inauguration.2006-11-12A photograph inside a room with cream walls and a red patterned rug. A seated figure with long dark hair, a yellow flower garland and an orange sleeveless garment receives gestures from a kneeling man in white clothes with a rudraksha-style necklace and round glasses, who holds his hands out over the seated figure's palms. Around them, several women in saris (red, orange, green and beige) and men in white and black shirts stand watching with hands folded. A man in white holds a video camera on the right. A red-and-orange-clad attendant in white sits at the right holding a small silver item, with a tray of fruit beside them. Visible people: about ten.2010-02-17July 30 20062006-07-30A photograph of an indoor puja in a small room with pale pink walls. A man in white clothes holds a lit camphor flame toward a seated figure wearing an orange robe and a white-and-green flower garland, hands pressed together in prayer with eyes closed. A woman in a white sari with a gold border kneels beside him and holds a small brass vessel. Fruit trays, banana leaves, and brass bowls are arranged on a striped mat in front. Around the room, about twenty devotees stand and sit with hands folded in namaskar. The flame and offerings suggest an aarti and padapuja. The seated orange-clad figure may be a person, shown by long swept-back hair, an orange robe, and a garland, but the face is not clearly visible enough to confirm.2009-08-08
