A dim stone temple corridor lined with tall pillars, with a crowd of devotees pressing forward behind a palanquin draped in red, green and yellow cloth. A bare-chested priest in white dhoti stands at the centre, with a man in a khaki uniform and hat nearby. Devotees in saffron, blue and white clothing fold hands along the pillars, and a golden kalasha stands at right.2016-11-11November 11 20162016-11-11A crowd of devotees walks along a long, pillared white temple corridor with carved lion brackets and a painted blue and red ceiling. In the distance, a glowing, illuminated palanquin-style shrine carries a deity murti during a procession. Many people wear white dhotis and white shirts, while women wear saris in pink, blue and green. A man in an orange shirt and a shirtless man in white dhoti walk in front, and a drum is visible near the center. A woman in a green-bordered white sari and a woman in a blue sari with folded hands join the procession. The scene suggests a temple ratha or palanquin procession in a corridor.2009-07-13April 05 20122012-04-05March 08 20202020-03-08November 11 20162016-11-11Night photograph inside a temple hall lined with stone pillars, a blue sign reading திருச்சுற்று மண்டபம் above the entrance. A dense crowd of devotees moves forward, many men wearing orange and saffron dhotis or shirts with rudraksha and flower garlands. Uniformed police in khaki stand among them, and a man in a green sports shirt walks in front. Festive lights and garlands decorate the hall, and a screen shows the temple in the background. No individual is identifiable as a person from visible cues in this frame.2017-02-06A dense crowd fills a stone temple corridor with carved pillars and ornate ceiling brackets, lit by overhead tube lights. Most people are men, many bare-chested with white or ochre cloths, some wearing rudraksha or beaded necklaces; a few wear yellow and white clothing. Painted devotional banners hang from the pillars, and glass-covered deity shrines or offering enclosures line the far side. The image shows a packed temple procession or darshan line rather than a single identifiable ritual.2018-04-29December 29 20102010-12-29March 09 20202020-03-09Photo 11730919April 29 20182018-04-29
