A photograph of a crowded temple procession moving along a stone-pillared colonnade. Several saffron-robed sannyasis walk in the foreground, including a shaved-headed monk on the right in orange dhoti and shawl with a rudraksha mala and a bald monk in the centre-left wearing orange with a rudraksha mala. Surrounding them are men in white shirts and dhotis, a man in a khaki shirt, women in saris, and onlookers standing along the red-and-white painted barrier and behind the pillars. No distinctive crown, long hair or ceremonial gold cues establish any particular individual, so the monks are described by role only. Visible people are counted in the scene; the exact crowd size is not established.2012-05-31May 31 20122012-05-31A photograph of a temple courtyard at Tiruvannamalai, with a tall stone gopuram wall carved with figures behind. A man in a saffron robe with a long dark swept-back hair and an orange kurta, hands folded in greeting, walks forward. Beside him, another saffron-robed sannyasi with a white forehead mark and rudraksha-style garlands walks, and a third saffron-robed figure with a white forehead mark follows. Two garlands of flowers hang over the arms of attendants. Priests and devotees in white dhotis, some in yellow-trimmed shawls, line the path, and a metal scaffold stands at right. The courtyard pillars and stone elephant figure are visible at left.2010-01-08A photograph taken at the entrance of a stone temple with a white gopuram tower above and a teal metal canopy over the steps.
