A temple aarti scene under an open roofed pavilion. A man with long swept-back dark hair, a red tilak on his forehead, a copper rudraksha mala and a flowing yellow saffron-toned shawl performs an aarti with a flame in a silver lamp in one hand and a handheld bell in the other. Beside him a younger priest in white dhoti with gold border and a gold-bordered shawl holds a silver tray of yellow flowers. Behind them a drummer in white beats a drum near a red-and-white staircase, and a figure in dark clothing stands further back. Garlands of red, yellow and purple flowers hang on the right, and a small white and gold deity murti sits in the lower foreground. A blue sign reads a warning not to stand under the cave.2010-12-23December 23 20102010-12-23December 23 20102010-12-23April 14 20182018-04-14 +1 copiesDecember 07 20162016-12-07October 21 20152015-10-21 +1 copiesNight ritual at an outdoor homa or fire-offering site under a decorated canopy of green and orange festoons and banana leaves. Seated devotees in orange and maroon garments press palms together around a square homa pit with brass vessels, marigold petals and yellow flowers. A bare-chested priest in white dhoti with an orange-and-gold shawl waves a ceremonial fan or chamara over a decorated structure garlanded with yellow and white flowers and red roses, topped with a pink element and offerings. Smoke drifts from the left. Behind, another white-clad man in a rudraksha mala and a bearded man stand near the ritual, with cameras on tripods at the edge. Brass oil lamps and a hanging garland border the scene, with striped and yellow decorations overhead. The ritual appears to be a puja or abhishekam; no deity form is clearly visible.2016-12-07July 18 20132013-07-18December 23 20102010-12-23A photograph of a pada puja in a temple setting. A young priest with a shaved head, white dhoti and shawl edged in gold, and a white forehead mark sits cross-legged on the left and pours water from a brass pot over the feet of a white statue. The statue wears a purple turban, purple shawl, gold necklaces and a red bindi, and is garlanded with yellow and red flowers and rudraksha malas. Brass oil lamps, pink and red flower offerings, a brass plate and a brass kalasha sit in front. Golden carved temple pillars, red drapes and a blue cloth frame the scene. The statue is a depiction, not a living person, and no one present matches a clear a person appearance.2011-07-26
