Photograph of a dimly lit temple interior during a ritual. A decorated deity murti stands behind an altar draped with garlands of flowers and banana or leafy decoration, with strings of lights above. In the foreground, several people in dhoti sit or bend low on the floor near offerings and flower-covered items. Two bare-chested men in white dhotis stand at right, one with a white cloth draped over his shoulder, near the altar. Faces are partly obscured and the scene is crowded with dark silhouetted figures. Visible ritual activity suggests abhishekam or puja.2011-11-29Photo 11724998 +2 copiesA dim temple interior during a homa fire ritual beside a silver-decorated deity murti garlanded with yellow and red flower strands. In the foreground a fire burns in a brass vessel holding halved coconuts and fruit. Behind it, a bare-chested priest in white dhoti and sacred thread stands at the deity's side, and another priest in white attends nearby. A seated figure in a dark garment with a tilaka on the forehead watches the fire. An orange-robed person sits at the lower left edge, partly visible. A tube light and a lamp light the scene.2011-11-29June 05 20122012-06-05 +1 copiesNovember 29 20112011-11-29 +1 copiesA dimly lit temple interior where a shaved-headed priest bare-chested in a white dhoti and marigold garlands holds a brass tray of burning camphor flame with coconut halves and offerings. Beside him another shaved priest with yellow flower garlands and a rudraksha mala watches the flame. Behind them stand devotees in white clothing, and a pillar and doorway frame the scene. The camphor flame is the brightest element in the image.2011-11-29November 29 20112011-11-29June 05 20122012-06-05 +1 copiesSeptember 19 20122012-09-19July 09 20132013-07-09June 05 20122012-06-05 +1 copiesDecember 09 20112011-12-09
