Central figure is a painted deity depicted as Shiva with matted hair topped by a crescent, a trident and a damaru-like drum at his left, a serpent around his neck, and a white garment. To the left stands painted Ganesha with an elephant head and red-orange attire, and to the right painted Hanuman holding a gada (mace) in a red-orange outfit with a halo. A small Shiva lingam emblem appears at the chest area. Malayalam text runs across the top and bottom. A framed painting on the facade shows a blue-skinned deity with a third eye and a consort with a crescent-topped crown, both with raised hands. A large banana-leaf arch with tender green stalks and leaves stands in front, and foliage hangs down the facade. Several people are gathered in the foreground, including a woman in a dark sari near the arch, and a young man at the left edge. Yellow signboards show Tamil text beneath the painting.2006-11-05A roadside billboard against a pale blue sky, mounted on a steel frame above a red and green painted wall. The sign is cream-coloured with bold blue and black lettering in Kannada and English. Two framed images sit on the board: on the left, a portrait labelled "Paramahamsa Nithyananda" shows a smiling woman with long dark hair in orange robes; on the right, a painted deity murti in an ornate gilded frame shows a figure beside a flower-decorated altar. A brown arrow points right toward the temple. Power lines run across the sky, and a pale concrete wall stands at the lower right. Centre right, a large orange banner advertises a 1008 lamp puja under a deity with kalasha imagery, with a smiling man in an orange turban and orange robe in a portrait labelled with Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam text. Left, a green poster shows a sword-and-club-bearing deity figure with garlands, a schedule and three small printed portraits of men in white. Lower left, a small political-style poster shows a woman. A wooden directional arrow sits at the base, and a thatched palm-fibre screen and tree stand behind. No physical people are present.2011-05-02Photograph of the colourful gopuram-style entrance of the Sri Thanumalayan Thirukkoyil temple at Suchindram, Tamil Nadu. Sculpted deity murti on a central shrine arch show Shiva seated on a white bull (Nandi) with a consort, and a figure on a white swan-like vahana to the right; flanking arches hold guardian figures painted in blue, green, and orange. Above is a stacked gopuram with dense white stucco figures. A blue-lettered sign reads 'Siva Siva', and a white board below carries the temple name in Tamil. No people are visible.2006-10-27August 01 20082008-08-01October 15 20062006-10-15A photograph of a green street banner strung across a village road, with tall saffron-coloured flags along the roadside and palm trees behind. The banner has a central oval portrait of a smiling woman in an orange-saffron garment with rudraksha beads, set beside a temple gopuram illustration and rows of lit oil lamps. Smaller framed images show a deity form on the left and a painted couple in ornate garments with a deity figure on the right. Two vertical banners at the edges show a bare-chested man with hands folded in prayer, rudraksha beads and a saffron wrap, and a figure with a gold crown. On the left, a portrait of a smiling man wearing a white turban and white shawl is labelled "Paramahamsa Nithyananda" on the sign. On the right, a circular inset shows a deity murti of Sri Anandeshwar draped in red and orange flower garlands, with a silver kalasha-like vessel before it. Below the central text is a red arrow reading "Welcomes you 1K.M" with phone, fax, email and website details. Metal posts and a sky with clouds frame the sign, with shrubs and a low building behind it.2005-12-31August 09 20102010-08-09Outdoor photograph of a vertical street pole holding a rectangular printed banner against a pale sky and green trees. The banner shows two overlapping profile portraits of a smiling man in an orange turban with red forehead mark and gold beaded necklaces, on a blue and red background with a yellow border. A small inset shows a deity murti seated on a throne-like peetha, adorned with garlands and a crown. Tamil text is printed beside the inset and below the portraits. The banner is a printed image, not a physical person. A portrait printed on the banner is labelled Paramahamsa Nithyananda in Tamil script; the appearance of the portrait is an appearance-based candidate for a person but the a person field is depiction because it appears only in print.2006-09-23 +1 copies
