December 30 20062006-12-30Outdoor photo beneath a large banyan tree with many hanging aerial roots and a wide spreading canopy. On a black stone platform at the tree base, a figure in saffron-orange robes stands with hands raised, facing the trunk. Beside them, a woman in orange with a white garland stands with hands joined. Around them, people in white dhotis and white shirts or saris stand in a semicircle, some holding long golden ceremonial staffs or poles. A white-rimmed circular planter surrounds the tree base, and white kolam rangoli patterns decorate the sandy ground at right. The scene suggests a tree worship or pooja at the banyan.2009-12-27Outdoor photo beneath a large banyan tree with sprawling aerial roots and dappled sunlight on dry ground. In the centre a man with long dark hair wears a saffron-orange robe and holds a walking staff. Beside him stands an older man with a grey beard in a white kurta and an orange shawl. To the right a man in white clothes stands near a dark stone deity murti set on a red-decorated base, with another figure in orange seated nearby. A blue cloth and a white plastic chair are on the ground. The centre figure has long hair and distinctive orange robes, but his appearance is not clearly enough distinctive to confirm identity.2006-10-19A large old banyan tree with many thick hanging aerial roots and spreading branches stands on sandy ground.
