A dense street crowd gathers in front of a colourfully painted South Indian gopuram temple tower with many sculpted figures, beneath a bamboo-and-cloth canopy. Men in white dhotis and shirts, women in saris and salwar-style dress, and children move through the crowd, some pushing bicycles. A vendor with a pink cotton candy stand is at left. Signboards include a red-bordered one-way sign and a shop sign pointing to a temple. Several people are plainly visible; the crowd is too large to count exactly and no individual is identifiable as a person.2006-10-24A street photograph of a busy Tamil Nadu town at a temple procession. On the right, a tall gopuram covered in painted deity sculptures in multiple colours rises above the street. On the left, a smaller colourful temple gateway stands beside a crowd of people in the foreground, some wearing white and orange. Overhead tangled power and telephone lines cross the sky. A blue sign reads in Tamil and English naming a temple hall and a road direction, and a red and white advertisement for First Flight Couriers hangs on a utility pole. Thatched shade and a blue umbrella sit at street level, with a white vehicle and parked motorcycles among the crowd. The photo is dated 22 10 2006 in red numerals.2006-10-22October 22 20062006-10-22December 20 20112011-12-20Street scene in a South Indian town with a tall, brightly painted gopuram of a temple rising at center, its tiers covered in colourful sculpted deities and painted figures, with a rocky hill behind it.
