A dhwajarohanam flag-hoisting ceremony at a temple courtyard. A standing priest in rust-red and saffron robes with a yellow-and-red floral garland and rudraksha mala places a hand on a copper dhwaja (flagstaff) above a small ornate copper shrine with a deity murti decorated with marigold garlands. Two shaven-headed priests in saffron and orange robes pull ropes at the base, one bare-chested with white sacred markings, standing on a red stone platform. Palm trees and green foliage surround the scene, with a few people in white clothing in the background.2015-09-08An outdoor ritual scene under a bright sky with palm trees. A man with long dark hair stands atop an ornate copper-coloured ceremonial pillar, raising one arm while holding a long thin cord or rope. He wears a rust-orange and gold dhoti-style garment, a red-and-white flower garland, and a beaded necklace. The pillar is wrapped with white and orange flower garlands and topped with green leaves, and carved with a small seated figure. To the right, a large orange ceremonial umbrella is held overhead, and robed attendants in saffron and orange clothing stand nearby, some wearing rudraksha malas. A tin-roofed shelter is at the left edge.2014-08-20 +1 copiesOctober 05 20142014-10-05August 20 20142014-08-20 +1 copiesMarch 01 20162016-03-01August 31st 20142014-08-31Outdoors among coconut palms, a standing man in a red-and-gold dhoti and matching shawl wears a marigold and red flower garland draped over his shoulders while stepping onto a red stone base beside a copper-coloured ornate dhwaja (flagstaff) with a carved finial. Behind him, bare-chested priests in saffron-and-gold cloth tend ritual items at a red-draped table, one holding a flaming lamp and another a brass vessel. Scattered flower petals lie on the red platform, indicating a flag-hoisting ritual (dhwajarohanam). No visible evidence establishes an identity for the central figure from appearance, so his role is described only as the standing officiant.2015-09-08February 28 20132013-02-28 +1 copiesNovember 26 20142014-11-26February 28 20132013-02-28 +1 copiesA photograph of a dhwajarohanam at a copper flagpole topped by a copper kalasha-like finial, wrapped in white and red flower garlands and set on a white stepped platform among palm trees.
