Behind, a pair of deity murtis sit in a gilded arch before a red curtain, one wearing a red crown and the other a jewelled crown with garlands, and a blue skirted figure is seated. Tall polished brass lamps with oil lamps stand on a wet granite floor.2015-05-05A priest in white dhoti and shawl with red border pours milky liquid from a brass pot over a white-coated standing statue on a gilded wheeled palanquin-style stand. The priest wears a tilak on his forehead, a gold bead necklace and a gold bangle; the liquid runs down the statue and pools on the yellow-stained floor. Behind, an orange cloth draped by a stone pillar, a red and gold gate, and brass lamps and vessels on a ledge. The statue is a deity murti, not a person.2010-12-14KAILASA LOS ANGELES, USA on 7/15/20192019-07-15Photo 99185412022-07-12 +1 copiesA shaven-headed priest in white dhoti and shawl with gold borders stands at left, pouring water or milk from a silver vessel over the head of a gold-coloured standing deity murti within a gold arched prabhavali. The priest has white ash-like markings on his bare arm and wears gold bangles. Behind him another white-clad priest with a folded-hands posture stands beside a gold ornamented frame, and a seated devotee in white and a woman with folded hands appear at lower left. A white marble seated figure and a dark stone linga-shaped stone with an orange flower sit at right; red curtains and foliage fill the background. This appears to be an abhishekam being performed.2011-09-19A shirtless young man in an orange dhoti and orange shawl, with a rudraksha mala around his neck and white sacred markings on his upper arm, pours water from a brass vessel held high over a golden-bronze deity murti. The murti wears a crown, a yellow-stained dhoti and shawl, and bangles, and holds a lamp-like object in one hand. Water streams down over the figure. The background shows a red tiled roof and metal scaffolding.2017-07-31 +1 copiesA photograph of a temple ritual centred on a Nataraja shrine. A shaven-headed priest in a white turban, bare-chested with a white dhoti and tilak marks on his arms and shoulders, wears a rudraksha mala and pours water from a brass vessel over a bronze Nataraja image in the Ananda Tandava dancing pose. Beside it a small bronze devotee figure stands and a second bronze figure is being bathed. Brass bowls with flower petals sit on a side table. Behind is a gold prabhavali arch against a red backdrop and gold-painted walls.Photo 11698563December 20 20162016-12-20April 07 20122012-04-07
