A homa fire burns in a tiered square fire pit built of orange-yellow bricks decorated with white lines, purple and red flower petals, and green patches. Flames and smoke rise from the wood inside. Behind the pit, a priest in a green cloth and bare upper body pours liquid from a brass ladle or bowl into the fire. Small plates hold green leaves and red petals, and a basket of grains sits nearby. Only partial limbs of others in white are visible at the top edge.2016-07-04 +1 copiesA square brick fire pit (homa kunda) is filled with smoke and flames, its brick rim decorated with turmeric-yellow and kumkum-red powders and scattered white grains. Marigold and red flower petals are scattered over the bricks. Behind it, a partially visible person in white dhoti and a wristwatch reaches toward the fire, holding an object. On the right stands a low table draped with a yellow and red floral cloth, bearing green coconuts, an orange fruit, and a brass plate of offerings. Striped cloths cover the floor on the left, with a bowl of grains at the lower left.
