A seated group of men in white ceremonial dhotis and shawls with yellow borders performs an oil lamp ritual, holding lit diyas aloft. Several have white and ash tilaka markings on their foreheads and rudraksha malas around their necks. Behind them, a large crowd of seated boys and men in white and striped clothing fills the hall, with more lamps on the floor in front. The scene suggests an aarti or lamp-lighting ceremony. No individual is identified as a person from appearance.
