2004 - sacred collections uncategorisedOutdoor photograph of a large crowd gathered beneath a broad, spreading banyan tree with aerial roots hanging from its branches. Most attendees wear white kurtas, white shirts and white sarees, with some in yellow and teal; a few wear garlands. A man in the foreground at right, in a white shirt with a garland, stands with his back to the camera facing the group. Woven mats lie on the ground at lower left. The scene suggests a gathering around a sacred tree, though no specific ritual is visibly confirmed.2009-12-02Outdoor photo of a temple ritual in progress beside a small stone shrine with a carved pediment topped by white figures of bulls. Inside the shrine a deity murti is decorated with garlands and flowers. A figure in orange robes stands at the shrine doorway, while another in orange sits near it. Many devotees sit on gravel in white and cream clothing, some women in saffron, teal and red saris, with long braided hair. Several men in white dhotis stand in lines on the left. Colourful umbrellas or canopies with orange and blue fringes shade the procession area, and a metal-roofed shelter and water tank appear at left under trees.2006-12-25May 02 20182018-05-02February 23 20082008-02-23November 21 20112011-11-21December 25 20062006-12-25August 03 20082008-08-03October 07 20122012-10-07December 25 20062006-12-25Outdoor ritual scene under a large shady tree with smoke rising through the air. On the left stands a striped red-and-white cloth draped over a stone arch on a rocky mound edged with white stones, with a yellow cloth and a small garland nearby. A standing figure in a long cream robe with a white head covering stands at centre, facing a white-draped table with offerings in front of a ritual fire area. Beside them, two people in saffron-orange garments and a woman and man in white stand with hands folded. Behind them a red-and-orange canopy stands among devotees in white and cream clothing. A large seated crowd in the foreground, many in white and orange, watches the ceremony.2005-03-08 +1 copiesA photograph of a line of devotees standing outdoors on a tiled courtyard in front of a red-orange temple wall, with a dark doorway behind them. Most wear white or cream traditional clothing: women in white saris with coloured borders, a man in a white shirt and white dhoti with a sacred thread, and a woman in white tunic and trousers. Several have palms pressed together in prayer or hands folded at the waist, and one woman in green patterned trousers and a green scarf stands at the right. A few have vibhuti or tilak marks on their foreheads. A golden ceremonial palanquin or decorated structure is visible at the far left edge. Some figures are partly cut off, and a few people are visible in the background near the doorway. The scene suggests a satsang or ritual gathering, though no one is clearly identified as a person.2013-03-10
